It was a typical North Carolina morning at the doctor’s office when all of a sudden hell broke loose. Military Police flooded the office and started checking everybody’s military ID to figure out who they were. Without any notice they started escorting spouse’s and family members out of the office into the parking lot where they gave a full on armed escort back to their residence. I was five years old and more confused than a deaf person at a symphony. Little did I know that one of the nation 's biggest terror attacks just happened. The most memorable event from my childhood that affected my life, and the entire world, was the attacks on September 11, 2001. That feeling was particularly strong on Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. I was five years old at the time and my dad was a Major in the United States Marine Corps. His battalion just returned from a deployment to Libya, and this attack meant he would be going on another except to a different place. However, that is not the only reason why this terror attack is the most memorable news event of my life. The hurt that it caused my family and neighbors was very clear to me and looking back on it now I can not stand it. It is the most memorable event because it has lead me to pursuing a career in the military, so I can do my part by serving our country and helping in the prevention of something like this …show more content…
Even though I have nine Marine officers in my family it is not the reason behind my motivation. I consider myself a very patriotic person and I want nothing more than for us to be an entirely safe country from foreign threats. Ever since that day I have had a burning desire to deploy and fight overseas and it all comes from that attack on September 11, 2001. With terror spreading through that part of the world everyday and the growth of ISIS I feel pretty confident I will accomplish my
