My Mom Research Paper

My mom doesn't wear a cape or fly through the sky but she does something better than that, she is always putting others before herself. I think a hero is someone that, if even for a little bit, focuses on someone besides themselves. I know my mother is that person in my life, and that's why she's my Michigan hero.

Please and thank you are two words my mom hears the most in our house. If you ask her kindly, chances are she'll say yes to you, if it's within reason of course. My mom is always there to help me, or a friend that needs a ride. One of my friends needed a ride home from our house one day, the problem is she lives out of town. Mom made it work and somehow got my friend home, me to my dads, and herself to work in time. From getting me to sports events to putting us kids before herself, my mom is the most selfless person I know.

My mom makes me smile, makes me laugh, and carries on aside from the pain of her past. I will never know the full extent of what she has dealt with, and neither will you, because that's not my story to tell. All I can say is bad things happen to good people and that's just the way life is. My mother, who is brave and should have been dealt better cards, inspires me. My Michigan hero reminds me how much harder life can get, and that we shouldn't dwell on the little things. That is what my Michigan hero teaches me

My mom plays many roles in life the mom, the dad, and the best friend just to say a few. When I was younger and was having a bad day I would tell my mom about it, and she would make me feel all better and tell me “everything was going to be okay” and it was. My mom supports me in everything I want to do and never doubts me even if it's a dumb idea. As a little kid I would tell her all of my dreams in life and she would tell me I was capable of accomplishing anything I wanted.…

(Seriously, I tried writing the list down and lets just say, more than one piece of paper was needed). She has influenced my life to be the best with her constant support, making me hope to one-day come close to being just like her. As I see her get up every morning to go to work, even on the most awful of days, she does her duties for the family she is trying to support. This in turn motivates me to be the best, not for myself, but for my mom. I hope to one day make her proud of the woman I have become, from the choices I have made, to the academic and athletic feats I have accomplished.…

The one place that affected me as a person and who I am today was Jamaica, the place where I was born, the place where I struggled and cried, and the place I call home. Growing up on a small property in Clarendon, Jamaica, I had both mom and dad at my corner loving me. My mother Maureen Rose was a maid who cleaned for wealthy people for minimum wage. My father on the other hand was a welder who worked at a factory and came home every day smelling like oil. I then was a young six years old to be exact and my brother and I had high imaginations.…

Since I acknowledge that Mary is my mother, I must inevitably see that she has a great love for me as her child. My g’ma and papa had a dream to move to the country and retire; so they bought 10 acres, cleared it and lived there. My papa was a hardworking man, so he never actually retired. By day, he built custom cages and bred exotic birds; at night he worked as a prison guard. I spent every summer with my grandparents. After my papa left for work, my g’ma would make hot cocoa; then we would sit on the covered porch he’d built for her, sometimes for hours, and talk about everything.…
