My Modern Hero
“ My mission is to rescue. My hope is that one day I won't have to” I have chosen Tia Torres as my modern hero because of her determination and willingness to save those who need saving and help the misguided get back on track. Tia Torres famous not only because of her show Pitbulls and Parolees, or her rescue Villalobos but because of her love for misguided animals and people. Tia Torres came from a broken beginning, she lived with her stepmother who she always called mom and didn't have a father figure. Even in those times she still had the heart and strength to take in stray animals, whether it was a horse or a goat. After moving out of her mom's house at age 17 Tia struggled with keeping her animals together and a roof over

Tia doesn't just rescue these dogs she also trains them to be able to go to homes. She gives obedience training classes to the dogs that need it and if they don’t go to good homes then they stay with them the rest of their lives. 30-40 dogs are adopted per month and Tia tries to pair up a dog the best she can to the family. Normally has a few choses plus a website that helps get a better look at the dogs. The amount of dogs that come in to villabobs is about 75 dogs per month that's more dogs coming in than going out, Villalobo is the largest pitbull rescue in the world with 300- 400 dogs in the kennels. That’s 7000 pounds of kibble give-or-take, plus all dogs that come in are spayed or neutered and normally have heartworm so they need to have heartworm medicine. These medical expenses cost about.700.00 dollars per dog. Pitbulls have been found in many different conditions by the villalobos team whether it’s an abandoned house or cut loose to run in the streets. From starving old dogs chained to a fence to new puppies left to die, even dogs with the scars of dog fights. If you look at a pitbull and see it has pointed ears that is because someone has cut their ears to look scary. Tia has saved as many as she can even if they have to chase them around for hours. Some are left out in the

From the article “Pit Bull Dogs’ Club Hits Back at Government” Mr. Muller actually quoted that, “In Victoria, one per cent of all dog attacks have been attributed to the Pit Bull terrier.” Mr. Muller even went as far as comparing the decision to a brand named car when he comments, “It's a bit like saying they are banning a particular brand of car in a bid to reduce the road toll.” Although he is right about the government needing to rethink their proposal, it still does not provide a good answer as to why they would ban this particular breed of dog out of all the other known fighting dogs. The government of Victoria going as far as making it illegal to buy a Pit Bull is absurd, because thesedogs are not single handedly destroying or killing people. They do it with…

All four dog breeds are being punished for something another Pit Bull did. They will either be killed using tax payer money, or lose their homes and be relocated to a shelter in another pit bull safe province. Banning four dog breeds will have a detrimental impact on someone's life. For example, in Montreal, Québec a pit bull ban has just recently begun. Owners of pit bulls must decide if it is possible to move to another province without the ban, or to try and get permits to let their dogs stay with them in Montreal.…

Banned, abused, neglected, hated, unloved, and exploited, pit bulls have become “America’s most reviled breed”. Most myths regarding pit bulls are based in fear, and almost all of them are proven fallacies. Pit bulls are not the only breed of dog that can have negative, aggressive tendencies based on its upbringing and other circumstances, but certainly an attack on an animal or a person by a pit bull is much more likely to be reported on the news, resulting in the creation of a bad reputation for pit bulls everywhere. Unfortunately, it is this belief that has caused some areas to put out bans on the entire breed. Not until people realize that any animal, even a pit bull, can be a very gentle, kind-hearted partner for life simply by raising the animal in the correct way, will pit bulls finally be rid of the negative and unfair reputation surrounding their…

What the media targets are only things that would come to a shock or surprise to the society and the problem with this is that the media is not always correct about they say because they focus on one side of the story and what they see, what they leave out is cause of the situation or the background of it.
