My Mexican Culture

I’m Mexican, I was born in Mexico but then brought over here to the US when I was around 3 years old. My whole family was born in Mexico and I’m the youngest child which means that all of my brothers and sister grew up for most of their childhood in Mexico and my oldest sister even got married over there. We eventually all moved over here and that resulted in our family being very culturally connected with Mexico’s culture. My mother is a strong believer in continuing cultural traditions even if we are in a different place. So she made sure we always knew a lot about where we came from or special traditions that were done in Mexico.Which later in life made me very different in a lot of way from my friends or people that I would meet. Obviously every family had their different traditions and things they do that are special to them but I always felt that everything about me was different. I never thought about it as a bad or good thing I just knew that I was different. Now as I grow and start to realize more things I have come to see that the fact that my family is really different has helped me a lot. How different my family is and how different my friends are have allowed me to see the world in many different perspectives and views and this has shaped the person I am and how I view the world. Now I crave making friends with people that are completely different than me, I love to have long talks about their lives and how they do things in their family. It makes me realize that the world is so big and that anything is possible. It allows me to see how that person takes on the world and how they see it. I learn so much about so many things I would have never thought to look up or just find out for my
