At times I think it’s often quite normal for new teachers to become overwhelmed their first year teaching. Especially at a school where there may not be enough resources to adequately assist them, this leaves many new teachers to fend for themselves. In my experience, it was my mentors that made a difference in my career, and prompted me to pay it forward and it is these mentors that I try to emulate in my own mentoring. There are a few different reasons I feel I am qualified to fulfill a CA position; I have experience both in being mentored as well as mentoring. I have worked as a functional member of a team environment in my highschool, social, and work space environments. I have faced struggles that give me a calm head in hard times and that is one of my major qualifications when becoming a CA. Throughout my middle school years I was in a program with Colby College where a student attending there would come and talk with me, or play games, or whatever they saw as necessary. I was an extremely shy child who showed little to no interest in socializing with my peers; giving me a mentor for three years was how they looked to solve this problem.…
