Music has been a strong part of my life and my goal for about four years now. I have been working hard towards it since the beginning, trying to get involved in it as much as possible. I started off with choir and because i looked up to my choral teacher so much it became clear to me that I wanted to become a music teacher. As time went by in highschool i felt more strongly about this and started working towards things that would help me towards that path.

During my 8th grade year i wasn't doing very well in an art class and i wasn't enjoying it at all. I asked if i could be put in a different class. One of the options was choir. I had always been a good singer according to others but I had never sang in a choir or been in any music class of any kind before and i thought that i would be behind in the class because i didnt know how to read music or anything like that. Surprisingly the class was easy going and i enjoyed it but I didn't think I would take it again during high school. Once i was in high school i was put in the men's choir because of my middle school choir teacher's recommendation, This class started me off on my goal and it honestly changed my life.

I don't think i have ever seen a teacher care so much about each of his classes like he had. I believe that most of his students respected him and his methods and enjoyed his class. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. This is why i want to become a music teacher. I want to give youth the opportunity to have that kind of experience and opportunity to have music in their

Choir has been a very opening experience for me. When I was little I was extremely shy and would be scared to really to period because I felt like they were always judging every single word that came out of my mouth. I didn't like to participate in any school activities because I was such an introvert, but throughout elementary and middle school the only thing I participated in and actually enjoyed was choir. The very few friends that I had were in choir because that is where I spent most of my time. When I got to high school I didn't have any classes with my friends.…

Every goal I want to fulfil is because of my mom who acts as a constant reminder that I can do anything if I have enough determination, she always told me “persevera y triunfaras” meaning persevere and you’ll succeed. One extracurricular activity I joined was Senior Mentoring, in order for me to become a Senior Mentor I had to apply to be a Senior Mentor and depending on your grades and GPA you’ll be able to become a Senior Mentor, Senior Mentors help Freshmen with their transition from middle school to high school, each Senior Mentor has at least five freshmen and all have different attitudes. When I decided to become a Senior Mentor for me, it was a difficult decision, I knew that I wasn’t going to have to Mentees that were the same, they…

I joined the Chorus and the Vocal Ensemble at the high school and continued to try and better myself as a musician. My music department also offered me other musical opportunities such as festivals. I have attended several festivals such as the Lakes Region music festival and the All New England music festival. These festivals allowed me to come together with other students from different schools that loved singing and performing as much as I did. Every time I perform at one of these festivals I am overwhelmed by how beautiful music can be when everyone I am working with is just as passionate as I am about the work we are doing and also extremely talented.…

My school offered only one music class for all students, grades third through fifth. My standards were high, and I hoped that I would be pushed by my teacher. The mediocre voices and musical knowledge of my fellow classmates made me regret this class. A few could carry a simple tune, while others were perplexed by the designs on the page. The worst part was that my teacher continuously said, “Great job everyone!…
