I would always ask my dad to go throw with me in the yard or go in the batting cage so that I could hit. I played softball when I was about nine through high school. Softball was a lot of hard work but I always knew practice made perfect. My travel team would always practice two times a week, I used to look so forwarded to going I couldn’t wait. I pitched for my team, so I also had to go to pitching lessons on top of practice which was always fun. For high school I played for South Granville, where we would always have practice every day no matter what the weather was. My freshman year was the toughest because I was new and had to work for my spot on the team, after that I was fine. My parents knew at the age of two that, that is what I was going to like to do, so my parent’s open a gym. Gymnastics takes lots of dedication, and I was dedicated. I was homeschooled from pre-k until my freshman year in high school. I was homeschooled because I was on the team in gymnastics; my team and I had to train four to six hours a day. My team and I went to a competition in Lumberton North Carolina. That competition was the first time I have ever gotten all 10’s on floor, I remembered when I landed that double back layout with a twist; that was the best feeling I have ever had. My mom did the after school program, so I would use that time to practice on the beam because I struggled with it. I was a level thirteen which means I was at a higher level than anyone else on my team; the girls on my team looked up to me. Finally, in one competition everyone on my team won first place, all of the crowd was so proud because this what we all had worked at so

I loved baseball growing up and I found myself on multiple teams at a time. One of the Leagues I happened to be in was the Lafayette Little League. My brother and I played here for many years and umpired as well. When I was 12 years old, I was put on the Little League all-star team. Unlike the years before on the team, this year was special because we had an opportunity, which was very slim, to go the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.…

When you look back on pictures of your early childhood, you realize how much enjoyment you had in the past, playing the sport you loved. For me, it was playing softball ever since I was a little girl and watching my sister play ball and longing to be just like her. I remember the long Friday nights that I thought would never end because of practice or the early Saturday mornings waking up at six o’clock to be at the field ready for warm up for another full day of softball. Looking back on those times, I reminisce but do not regret any of those moments. It made me a better person inside and out; it allowed me to develop critical leadership abilities, communication skills, confidence and self-poise that still carry with me today.…

Starting first grade I thought we were the top dogs because we got moved down to the bigger playground with the bigger kids. Since they knew we liked kick ball so much they built a kick ball diamond for us. There was just so much to do in the shortest amount of time. Everyday was a new day, I never did the same thing, whether it was playing on the upper part on the monkey bars seeing who could hang the longest or playing football with the guys. I can remember my first year at kickball I was taller than most of the guys because they haven’t hit their growth spurt yet, so everyone wanted me on their team because I was the only girl once again that was better than most of the guys.…
