My Major Crisis Essay

The major crisis in my life centers over someone I love more than anything. A common phrase, but true nonetheless. He is my world, my savior, my father figure, my ideal, my role model, my past, and my future. I still miss him, and we have only been separate for a few weeks. The event that shook me shook him even more, and I wish I had been stronger for him. Recollection of that day is hazy and still a bad memory, but It helped me to learn more about myself. Because of it, I have learned about who I am, and who I want to be. I learned how I react in important situations, and I learned how I react to stress. This event helped shape me. That day is a blur, and I remember little about it besides the look on my grandfather’s face. We were standing outside my house picking up the debris from the peach tree that was struck by lightning a few days before. I had not heard about the tree until that day because, as always, I stay the summer at my grandparents to help them with whatever they need done around the house. I calmed him down and he agreed to go with them. A short time later I called my grandmother, and we both drove to the hospital. The slow ride there in times like these are always the worst. With nothing to distract my mind, and no important task to be done, my worries crept in again. The stress I had buried in the heat of the moment stirred my thoughts. Yes, it was a heart attack, but how bad had it been? Was he still alive? Where was he? So, I prayed. I prayed, like all those who are afraid of losing something, and felt all the less for it. I still feel the guilt of it -praying only when I needed something- and promising all the while to be a better person and devote myself to God.
