My Love For Theatre Production

Decent Essays
Theatre has been a major part in my middle school years. It has helped me open myself up and helped me feel more comfortable expressing my opinions in all my classes not only theatre. It would be an absolute honor if I had the chance to join Ridge Point theatre in order to keep developing my character and become an asset in the theatre production. The reason I want to audition for Theatre Production is to hopefully become an asset in your program and to expand my love for theatre. This program is such an amazing program and if I get accepted I hope that it will help me further develop my love for theatre. I have watched some of the performances by the Theatre Production and I was in awe at the dedication and the believability of these performances.

In my opinion, my desire to be a state thespian officer could be summarized by my childhood girl scout troop’s mantra which was “Wherever you go make it a better place when you leave”. The arts programs over the course of my entire public education have served me well and continues to. This love for theatre has stemmed all the way from 1st grade Annie with my debut role of Kate the orphan to now an over 50 cast of Beauty and the Beast. I believe that the best way I can repay this debt back and make theatre a better place is through being a state thespian officer. Without theatre, I truly don’t know who I would be and I would like to do my best to not only improve arts programs across the state but, also bring the arts to those less fortunate improving theatre for all from when I first entered it all those years ago.…

Though I am grateful for my midwestern upbringing, I cannot deny the pushes and pulls of the heritage that propels me to look beyond Milwaukee. Every year my family has two Thanksgivings. We have, what you could call, the “traditional” American Thanksgiving then we do it all again the “Dominican way”. This tradition is something that represents both parts of my ethnicity really well. My mother is from the west coast and was brought up in a very traditional European manner.…

When the word “home” is defined in a dictionary you are given definitions like “the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered” or “any place of residence or refuge” but to me home means so much more. To me, home is theatre. Those who know me well will attest that the change in me throughout this experience is drastic. Theatre transports me to places I couldn’t dream of otherwise and two years ago, I was taken to a place that would change my life forever and theatre transformed to the place I call home. Thoughts and ideas flooded my mind as I stepped into the off-green colored cafeteria.…

What is an artist? The definition of an artist is different to everyone. To some, the word artist is taken as its literal meaning: someone who, quite simply, practices a creative profession. I have been performing ever since I was Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical the Musical at my elementary school, and my love for it hasn’t wavered since. I have been in countless productions as leads, ensemble, and even tech since then. While it is true that most who are in the theatre did join for this very reason, there are some points where the similarities of watching and participating detour into major differences. I preface this with a brief glimpse into my background. First off, I was not an actor.…
