Pre-Pharmacy Personal Statement

My love for the field of pharmacy did not come overnight. Instead, it slowly blossomed as I grew and explored the healthcare field. As a child I grew up making frequent visits to hospitals, which exposed me to healthcare early on. I became enthralled by the compassion and selflessness that healthcare providers exhibited while treating the sick and even myself. I was even more intrigued by the vaccinations and medications used to treat or prevent multiple illnesses. I wondered, “what are they be injecting into my body? How will these pills help fight my illness?” It was at this point in my life that I really started to take interest in the healthcare field. During the summer after 6th grade, I decided to start taking action. I started my journey by volunteering and observing at a local nursing home. Through these organizations I was able to diversify myself by connecting to individuals from different ethnic backgrounds and religions. In addition, I was able to developed strong leadership and organizational skills by serving as the Community Service Chair for the Pre-Pharmacy Club. These skills I obtained, strengthened my confidence to become a promising healthcare provider. As my social networks grew, so did my educational background in Science. With each year that I continued my education, I made more knowledgeable connections with the medications I worked with in the Pharmacy. After completing courses such as Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Pathophysiology, and Cell biology, I began to have a better understanding of how medications react in the body. However, there is more to be learned and it is my goal to be able to continue my academic endeavor to become a knowledgeable and compassionate healthcare
