My Love For Football

Decent Essays
I don’t exactly remember the first time I played football. It was a long time ago. But I do remember my first time playing after I quit my freshman year. After my sophomore year, I was asking myself if I wanted to play football again my junior year but it just didn’t sound like the greatest thing. I was really focusing on basketball which is still my favorite sport so I decided against it. But, after my junior year I decided to play football again and give it another shot. I have always loved football but I decided not to play in high school because I didn’t think I’d be good considering how small I was. But now that I am not too small anymore, my perspective has changed and I decided to try it out again. And I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I am given an opportunity that not a lot of other people have in this …show more content…
It has taught me that it is important to work hard to achieve goals and that with those goals, comes satisfaction. Football has also brought me a lot closer to some people who I never thought I’d even be friends with. As an incoming senior, I went on the senior trip this summer for football. The coach told me he doesn’t normally let first year seniors go to the trip but since I had been to all the summer practices and worked hard, he would make an exception for me. The trip was one of my favorite experiences in football yet. I grew a lot closer to some of the other seniors on the team and I also bonded with all of them. While there, the coach asked us to share some things that weren’t easy for us to talk about. It got emotional but everyone there knew that everyone else had their backs and didn’t have to worry about anything because we’d be there for them no matter what. Then, of course, the next day we got to go white water rafting which I had never done before. I’d go again in a heartbeat with the exact same people. I will never forget the memories and bonds I created on that trip with the other

Eight-eighty-seven seventy-one,” Coach Morris said to me. “Look for the outside receivers and tell them to get out of bounds to stop the clock. If they don’t get out of bounds, hurry to the line and spike the ball!” After hearing those instructions from coach I trotted onto the field with 1:22 left in the Decorah football game. Since our defense held them on 4 straight downs we had a second chance and we were going to take advantage of it.…

When you look back on pictures of your early childhood, you realize how much enjoyment you had in the past, playing the sport you loved. For me, it was playing softball ever since I was a little girl and watching my sister play ball and longing to be just like her. I remember the long Friday nights that I thought would never end because of practice or the early Saturday mornings waking up at six o’clock to be at the field ready for warm up for another full day of softball. Looking back on those times, I reminisce but do not regret any of those moments. It made me a better person inside and out; it allowed me to develop critical leadership abilities, communication skills, confidence and self-poise that still carry with me today.…

Football pushed students to excel and become self disciplined. Children learn how to practice on their own and tricks to improve. Children also are more respectful of adults because of the mentality of the coach to athlete relationship. Ultimately, football pushed young people to do better in school, become more self disciplined, and more well-rounded people, all of which will help them later in life. From a young age, I always loved playing football; being out on the field is one of the best feelings ever. The adrenaline, hearing the crowd cheering, scoring touchdowns; it a rush that goes through my veins and I cannot get enough of it. I would play because I enjoyed it, but I had no idea how the simple game of football would change my life for the better. Growing up I used to see my friends come home from little league practice everyday on school days and that really used to make me mad. They used to get home when the street lights were on and we were not able to come outside and play at that time.…
