My Life With My Mother Essay

As a young child, my mother would always encourage me to do my best in school and go beyond what was expected of me. I was not allowed to go outside and play with my friends unless I had finished all of my homework. I could not understand why my mother pushed me so hard, given the fact that she did not complete college. This is not to say that I thought less of my mother, but as her daughter, I wanted to be just like her. Being able to obtain a Bachelor’s degree was the best decision I could have ever made, with the support of my mother. My mother grew up in a single parent home, with four brothers and sisters, in a low income neighbor. She was extremely activity in school and everyone knew the girl who could play basketball well and make everyone laugh. My mother did, in fact, graduate from high school but she always told me that she did just enough to get by. She did not obtain a Bachelor’s degree but she got a really good job that supports me and my siblings. Although my mother did not have any desire of going to college she always encouraged me and my siblings to go to college so we do not have to endure to same out hard labor that she does. I received my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) in Child and Family Studies in May of 2015. While at UTC, I learned a lot about myself and how to conduct myself in a business manner. I joined a lot of student lead organizations and was able to make a good name for myself on campus. Not to…
