My Life And Major Changes In The Last Two Years

“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often” Winston Churchill. People change sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse, but the change in my life over the last two years has been nothing but positive. Major differences between my old self and who I am now are my academics, my goals, and my social life. Two years ago as a junior in high school it was my first year in private school, and now I’m a freshman in college. At the beginning of my junior year, I transferred into a private school a week before school started. The only reason for the transfer was to play football and have a better wrestling coach. The public school I attended before transferring did not have a football program and a lack luster wrestling team. The change of pace was incredible from public to private. I was …show more content…
In my final two high school years I had three main goals set for myself. The first of those goals was to graduate high school, for at one point in time this seemed like a reach. The second was to get into at least one college. No one in my family has ever even been accepted into a college before. Out of the thirteen I applied to I was accepted to twelve. The third goal I had for myself was to become a better athlete. I am proud to say I achieved all three of my goals. I now have three new goals for myself. The first is to get at least a 2.8 GPA this semester; this is a reachable goal that is more of a confidence booster than anything. The second is to get a summer internship in the field of Sports Journalism. The third is to make the Utica Men 's Rugby Club team roster, for I discovered in my senior year of high school that rugby is a passion of

Dear, Point Pleasant Beach High School I would like to thank Beach's program for touring me around the school during the open house and Dr. Grosshandler for taking the time out of his day to discuss my possible future with Point Pleasant Beach and its amazing academic program. Beach has gained a reputation of producing intelligent students and sending them off to college. Being considered for a program with such a productive system brings a monumental amount of joy to me and my family. Over the course of this school year, I have begun to realize the difference between my old school, Point Pleasant Boro, and my new school, Spring Lake Heights. Heights has a smaller population which benefits the students for multiple reasons.…

It all started in senior year of high school, a moment where, because of my lack of effort at certain times of my teenage life, I was left with very few options regarding where I could go pursue my education after graduating high school. It is important to emphasize that although I wasn’t sure what exactly I was capable of, I was sure that I was capable of great things and high school failed to inspire me to become the best person I could be. I was disoriented yet self-assured. Luckily, thanks to some thoughtful people who guided me in the right moment, I was able to get in to the Macklin Business Institute at Montgomery College and I was given the opportunity to try out and get recruited to play for MC soccer team. The experiences that followed…

In high school, I have never been involved with athletics as much as I had wished. I did not much affinity towards our sports teams either. Athletics seemed more of a requirement and a hassle rather than something that had a lot of value in it. At Syracuse, I would want to become someone who doesn’t see sports in that light. I want to be involved with sports at the university, both playing and cheering, and have a school and sports teams that I can feel vast amounts of pride for, even after I become an alumni.…

Prior to high school, my middle school recommended that I attend “Grant High School”, which was looked down upon by my parents due to its reputation. Grant High School only has a 78% graduation rate. My father had been planning on surprising me with an opportunity of a lifetime and began planning since I was in 7th grade. I left my friends and current life behind to move to a place called Oak Park to attend Oak Park High School, which is ranked in the top 100 public schools in the nation and a graduation rate of 99%. I truly believe this is the reason I am here at San Diego State University today, because I was given an opportunity I may not have received by attending Grant High School.…

In considering my lifetime goals, I have to discuss my past experiences in order for the Admission Committee to have insight into my journey to achieve academic excellence with the ultimate goal of becoming a part of the medical community. As far as I can remember, I always wanted to be part of the medical community; I believe that this quest started from my mother’s womb. The reason for this statement is because my mother experienced two great losses during her pregnancy with me; the loss of her sister who passed away after a short-term battle with cancer, and the loss of her best friend to a fatal gunshot wound due to a long-term battle with domestic violence. I genuinely believe I felt my mother’s heartache and pain within during these difficult moments in her life. Even though such heartache and pain plagued my mother, she tells me that I was the gift she needed to survive these moments.…

Just like many of my peers, I came to college in order to allow myself a better and more option-filled future to do whatever it is that I decide to set my focus on. However, to obtain the right education and experiences to enable this, goals (both short-term and long-term) must be set. My short-term goals include making A’s in all of my courses this semester, securing an internship for the summer involving animals, and acing all of my chemistry 101 tests. As for my long-term goals, I want to get accepted into veterinary school, maintain a 3.5 or higher GPR as I get my undergraduate degree, and to positively impact others lives with my work.…
