My Life Soundtrack

Decent Essays
This song belongs on my life soundtrack because I’ve always been raised to be humble, kind, and show respect. This song reminds me of my younger childhood where my mother would take me to church, visit my grandparents and spend time with family. This song describes me because I’ve always been kind, humble, and respectful to everyone or at least I try to be most of the time. My favorite parts of the song are where he sings about going to church with your mother, and visiting your grandparents. I also love where it goes don’t steal, cheat, and don’t lie. I was always taught to never steal, cheat, or lie. To always work hard, and do the right thing.

There are many ways the media tells us what normal or expected of females and males, one of which is through POP music. I have been guilty of listening too and enjoying the four songs I have picked. Since pop music is so upbeat and well “popular” I listen to it quite often it was not until asked to write this essay that I have ever really thought about the lyrics and message in these songs. They mostly talk about men being obsessed with the female body and sex. Most popular music portrays that men only want women for sex and don’t look at them as partner in life or someone to have a relationship with, rather something for their personal enjoyment and not a human being with needs and wants.…

In the song “Children’s Story” by Slick Rick, the overall theme is that Rick is the uncle of two small children who ask for a bedtime story. Rick proceeds to them a story of a young man who was convinced that a life of crime is appealing. The young man eventually gets addicted to thievery and robbery and accidentally gets into a run in with an undercover police detective and things turn south quickly. In this song, he was able to deliver a message of how going down the wrong path is a slippery slope that few ever recover from.…

“Made in America” I have always loved music; it is my pastime. After listening to music for as long as I have, I realized that some of the songs I listen to resemble me in different ways. However, there is one song that I find to shape me and the way I live my life. One song that demonstrates my strong work ethic, my pride to live in America, and how I am proud of my dad is Toby Keith’s song “Made in America.” No matter what kind of work I am doing I always work hard and strive to be the best.…

I would like to believe that I learned my personal ethics from my family more importantly my parents. Growing up my parents thought me many things that had several messages attached to them. Those messages I now use on a daily basis most importantly in my career. One of the ethics that I could remember is to be caring and loyal friend, neighbor, family, or co-worker. Having these two ethicses has guided me to the field of psychology and is still helping me.…

“Look what you’ve done by Drake” Ever since the first time I heard this song I’ve always felt so sad listening. Although he 's talking about his mother it had always spoke to me in a different way as if he was talking about an ex. But then I listened a little closer. The first time I heard this it was a summer night at my cousin 's house and we were all on our way to sleep and in the dark my cousin just plays the song I instantly fell in love with this song it was a legitimately touching tribute to his mother and uncle. This song is great at describing the people who shaped Drake for the man he is today.…

The media perceives Taylor Swift as nothing more than a clingy, manipulative, and crazy young woman who jumps from relationship to relationship. Being the lyrical genius she is, Swift created the song "Blank Space" in 2014 to defend her position with this preconceived notion. She uses many rhetorical devices to explain her position in this argument against the media. With the beneficial use of rhetorical devices, Taylor Swift shows that boys will only stay if it is worth a fight, and that she is fully conscious of the media representation.…

Song lyrics have always been more poetic than people tend to give credit, through their imaginative and emotional style of expressing the author’s intents yet allowing each listener to add their own experiences into the interpretation. Recorded in 1972 and released in 1973, Led Zeppelin’s “The Rain Song” displays the bands creative genius in producing a ballad that has stood the test of time. At the suggestion of Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham, following a discussion with George Harrison about the band not writing ballads, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, both lyrical geniuses, wrote this charming ballad about love (“Songfacts”). Jimmy Page and Robert Plant used metaphor, simile, and symbolism in order to compose a song that anyone can relate…

The first principle which was entrenched in me was the significance of integrity, and to always express honesty with him. At an early age, my dad accentuated to me to be honest regards of what kind of mistake was done. Secondly, my father taught me to always find yourself leading and not following behind others. This principle I incorporated in my childhood, and into my adult life, any decision I choose to make is because of my choice and not because of the persuasion of others. In addition, a fervent value I carry is always giving a one hundred and ten percent to any task I am trying to accomplish.…
