Bob Marley Is This Love Analysis

When it comes down to the songs that will play in the movie of my life, these songs would be dramatic. Every song would have a different meaning, and more attention, destruct and love in it than the last. There are certain songs that are more committed to a certain time or event that has happened. Some are due to it being the song we sang when at the time, some being the lyrics that stuck years later yet most are because of the feeling when the song is first heard.
Going as far back that I can remember, most of the songs that I would hear would be on the car rides to school or camp. A lot of time was spent in the car with either my mom or dad yet one song stick out every time no matter where or when I hear it. In the background, I can hear "Bob Marley – Is this Love" as my dad is speeding down the road to get to swim practice

This is one of the fondest times that I can recall crystal clear with my dad. He played the same Bob Marley songs on the same tape over and over every morning. It came to a point when my sister, Emoni, and I, knew every word by heart. We loved the feeling singing along with our dad, not matter that we did not know who he was and too young to even know what he was saying. It was just the joy of knowing that we knew one of our daddy's favorite artist's song. Another song that reminds so much of my younger childhood was "The Notorious B.I.G. – Big Poppa". Every time this song would come on my daddy would blast it no matter where we were. I would shout the lyrics as if we were performing a concert for the world to not only see but hear. When he finally finished, he would go on to declare that I was named after his favorite

While my parents traveled to and from work everyday, there were a couple of songs they may have heard quite often due to their popularity. If they happened to be listening to the radio when I was born, they more than likely heard the number one song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith (“Birthday No #1.”), which won the MTV Movie Award for Best Song from a Movie (“Aerosmith Awards.”). Diane Warren, the songwriter, became nominated for an Oscar for the Best Music from an Original Song, won the ASCAP Award for Most Performed Songs from Motion Pictures, and was even nominated for the Grammy Best Song written Specifically for Motion Picture or for Television (“Diane Warren Awards.”). Other songs they may have heard could have been “Candle in the Wind” by Elton John or even “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden ("90s Hits – Billboard #1s.”). Other than listening to songs, my parents often found themselves sitting on a comfortable couch watching a hit TV show.…

Another point is that “themes or pieces need not express only one emotion” (Copland). People can grab multiple emotions from a single piece. These emotions can allow people to go different places in their head and even to reflect on their life.…

The song I chose is “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, is characterized by the Beach Boys. I chose this song because of how laid back the tune sounds and makes me want to relax. It’s relaxing because the song reminds me of the beach and the sounds of the waves. In the song it talks about how they will be gone for the summer and to tell the teacher they have gone surfing. The summer always reminds me of the beach and all the surfers in the water.…

OutKast, a popular rap group throughout the nineties and early 2000s, has a renowned song entitled “Hey Ya!” which features the smooth flows of Andre 3000 and hard hitting rhymes of Big Boi. The song has been a huge hit for years and is virtually known by every American under the age of thirty. When the song was released in 2003, I was just three years old, but had already adopted my dad’s love for music and I frequented the kitchen tile as my dance floor whenever music was playing. OutKast’s song “Hey Ya!” holds a different weight than most other songs I grew up around because it is one of few memories I remember vividly about my childhood.…
