Personal Narrative: How Xavier Changed My Life

Improved Essays
Coming to Xavier has been one of a kind. Xavier is not just your typical high school or private school. It is a very unique school. I went to public school for 9 years until I came to Xavier. I was very aware of Xavier since two of my cousins graduated from here, Shamara and Israel Valdez. Shamara actually introduced me to Xavier and encouraged me to go. She would always talk about her school and the environment. I was curious about it. If it wasn’t for my cousin I would of probably gone to La Quinta High School, since all my friends were going there. Some of my peers from my middle school, John Glenn actually came to Xavier. I was really excited. I was not one of those freshmen who didn’t know anyone, so it was not a hard transition from …show more content…
I still remember that until this day. She asked me if I was having a good day and asked me how I was doing. I thought that was very thoughtful of her to welcome me. I immediately liked Xavier even more. The seniors of my freshmen year were very nice in my perspective and I had many senior friends. My halo Caroline Olson was such a great Halo. She was my role model as well. I had an amazing freshmen year at Xavier. It was such an amazing experience that I will never forget. The freshman retreat was also really great and I got to familiarize myself with my peers and Xavier spirituality. I think Xavier is a very family-oriented community. You can go to anyone if you need help or guidance. Xavier has taught me so much. I don’t know how my life would be outside from Xavier. Coming to Xavier has been one of the best decisions till this day. Xavier made me get in touch with my spirituality. The Examen is something special that Xavier makes us do and I think its good for reflecting on your thoughts everyday. Praying everyday has made me a positive person and I am really thankful for that. Xavier has made me more in touch with my spirituality. Xavier has made the high school experience much easier for me. The community is great and the environment is really welcoming. Others high schools would not welcome you like Xavier or open your spirituality every day. Xavier encourages students to make relationship with the less fortunate. If …show more content…
She has guided me in making the best choices for myself. My mother has been very worrisome just like any mother. My mom would get really worried during my toddler years. She would always assume the worst scenarios and would act very dramatic, but that was the way she showed she cared. I was always a well-behaved child. I was very calm and would never throw tantrums. There were some incidents when I caused trouble without noticing. My mother was off to work and I decided to go to my uncle 's house since he was my neighbor. My uncle wanted to go to the store so I willingly wanted to go as well. We were gone for approximately two hours and then we got back home and our apartment complex was filled with police officers. They saw me immediately and questioned me. They also held back my uncle and my mother came in to fix the misunderstanding. This memory showed me the lengths a mother will go to for their child. My mother showed grand emotions on that day. She was ultimately devastated

I always had a good time when I went to my First Year Seminar class. The topic was interesting, and everyone could relate to it in some way or another. It wasn’t just about sex, but also about love. I got to write about my own personal love experience at the very beginning of the semester, and I feel like it was my best paper. It really set the mood for the remainder of the class.…

Luckily, I choose a school that didn 't stress me out about those test scores. I choose Lakeland Community College. It was the fall of two-thousand and fifth-teen my senior year in high school! With so many other events on my mind such as my last homecoming, prom and commencement I really didn 't want to think about college, but it was something I had to do. My friends were all talking about college, their dream schools and where they would love to attend school.…

I wanted to ensure that these groups of freshmen feel safe, prepared, and excited for all of the valuable opportunities available at CHS. In a way, I feel that I am helping them begin a fresh, new journey by guiding them in the right direction for success. From my experiences as a CAV Crew leader, I have developed a newly ignited passion for service and leadership. Even to this day, I can walk through the hallways and recognize some freshmen in my past groups and check in with them as a fellow Cavalier and friend. It is a rewarding feeling to know that I have made some difference–big or small–in the lives of those students.…
