I did not always know that I would want to pursue nursing. My father is a general physician, otherwise known as a family doctor. I grew up as a child running around his office every day during my summers or after school was dismissed every day. I found his job fascinating. He saw multiple patients a day and they were so trusting of him. They put their care in his hands. They did the same with the nurses. As a child, I kind of overlooked the nurses. However, as I got older, I realized that they were integral parts of my father’s practice. They were and continue to be the guides in my father’s office. They helped each patient with whatever questions they had. When I was in high school, I would think about what I would want to do as a career. I had always simply tossed around the idea of potentially becoming a nurse or maybe pursing a career within the medical field. My parents always threw the idea out into the open during conversations but I did not think much of it until this year. It was not until about two months before I came to Georgia College and State University that I decided to pursue nursing. I know it will be an extremely long, stressful, and crazy journey. However, I know that nursing is the profession that I really want to pursue. Now that the fall semester of my freshman year is coming to an end, as well as my pre-nursing seminar class, I have learned a great amount of information about my current major.
