Title
Throughout my entire life, my brother, Caymus, has been my best friend. From things like learning to ride a bike together or going to each other’s ' little league games and recitals, we have always had an unbreakable bond. When we were younger, we would go on bike rides throughout the neighborhood and play make-believe games with our friends. Once we got older, we began to do more mature things like going to concerts together, or on long road trips. Though the things that we did together changed, our bond never faltered. Belting out our favorite Led Zeppelin song with the windows down, Caymus and I never realized that many people are not able to have the same blessing that we do. Over the years, we have made some of the best memories of our lives together, and those memories will forever remain with us. Not many people have a sibling or relative that they can consider their best friend, but I do. I have other great

We arrived at his dorm building and began to unpack all of his belongings and move them up to his dorm. This part would not have been too bad, but his dorm was on the top floor. We had to drudge all of his things up flight after flight of stairs to get them to his dorm, and once there, we had to unpack and organize them. My mom and I took the initiative of organizing everything and making it look as nice as an eighteen year old boy 's dorm room could be. Once we finally got all of his things organized and in his dorm, I was exhausted! At this point, the fact that I was on my way to becoming an only child had slipped my mind, I just wanted to lay down and rest. I quickly remembered, however, that this was the last time that I was going to see Caymus for several months, and it was like a slap to the face. I grew up in an upper-middle class, white, Catholic family, in the middle of suburban Cary, North Carolina. Culture was a term introduced in school with pictures of exotic places and bright wardrobes; history lived inside textbooks with stories of war and migration. My fourth grade family history project contained one piece of information: my great-grandmother sailed to the States from Italy in 1904. The little history and culture introduced by my family showed me who I do not want to become. While the teachings of Christianity shaped me into a compassionate, open-hearted person, I struggle to accept the dogma that followed it.…

Throughout my life God has given me many delightful and fantastic friends, but when I consider who I ought to call my ‘best friend,’ my mind specifically turns to Skylar. However, one must ask why. What transforms a friend into a best friend? For me personally, trustworthiness, kindness, determination, and loyalty define what makes a true friend. However, a best friend requires not only all of those traits, but also time and love.…

Eleven years, four months, eight days, and thirteen hours. That is the day and time when my unspoiled life changed. The day that I no longer was able to view the world through the clouded eyes of a child, but through the clear eyes of a young adult. Countless people miss these moments in their lives, however I was fortunate enough to pin it down to the hour. The hour that my father informed me that I was leaving the only house and life I ever knew and move into not only a different residence but a different life.…
