Encouragement comes in all shapes and sizes: This I believe with my whole heart.
Three major events in my life made me realize the meaning of encouragement. The first being chrysalis. Chrysalis is a weekend church retreat I attended my junior year of high school. For three days my faith was pushed, questioned and tested. I was forced to think about my life and long term goals in an all new way. One might not think that this could be encouraging but believe it or not it is one of the best forms of encouragement. When one is pushed it only makes them want to do better and prove people wrong. That is one form of encouragement: being tested and pushed to have a different prospective. Such encouragement makes people determined, it moves them to

This was one of the strongest forms of encouragement that I have learned and that is encouragement in the form of giving. Encouragement: the action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope. My graduation was the definition of encouragement. I received nine out of the eleven scholarships given out that night and I thought if all of these people believe in me then I have to believe in myself. The support I received filled me with hope and confidence for my future. My prospective from this night was of the receiver and it felt amazing. I knew that in my life I had to be the giver and make people feel the way that I felt that night. That is when I knew that I had to encourage people in the form of giving. But I also plan to be a strong leader. I would like to join student government next year and be a part of the orientation staff. In high school I held many leadership positions and I hope to do the same here. The reason I enjoy having leadership roles is because I get to encourage others to strive for their goals or the goals of the group. Being a leader is one of the best forms of encouragement, it is also one of the most effective forms. If I can lead and help others to lead then I will be satisfied with my four years at North Central College.
That is what I want to do and this is how I plan to do it. First I want to simply get involved in more organizations. The main organization that I want to be active in is focus so I will be attending the meetings. By being a leader in focus I will have the opportunities to encourage others to attend focus on Wednesdays. I will also start to attend student government meeting after we return from break. By joining both of these groups I will be able to encourage others in the form of encouragement. That is my main goal here at North Central College to lead and encourage others to be the best that they can

At the summer program I was tasked with teaching 3 classes of first graders to type and code. In order to ensure that they have a successful first year at Xavier, I informed them about the resources Xavier University provides, including the writing center, mathematics lab, tutoring services, Ohio link, and much more. I also advised them to make good decisions and form relationships with people who would motivate them to succeed.…
