It took me a while to realize that the person I was trying to be was not the real me. I believe that I came to this realization in the eighth grade. At this point, I informed those who I thought were my friends of my plans to attend Stanly Early College. At first, all those I thought were my true friends seemed to be excited for my plans until I told them I had been accepted. From that moment and through my entire freshman year I lost touch with many people who I discovered to have not really have been my true friends. For a short period of time, I felt alone until I discovered that those who I kept in touch with along with the new friends I made were my true friends.
