No, I did not have a hard time thinking of memoirs to write, but the six that I had at the time were depressing and a bit cynical. The first memoir I have listed, “My life is Anxiety: The Musical”, was also the first one I came up with, or, rather, the first I came up with that made this final list. Hampl begins to explain that a memoir is “a matter of transcription,” meaning that one has the power to present what details they choose to share. As a memoirist, you soon begin to question whether your memory is a reliable source or if your mind filled those empty gaps with desirous details. Over the semester we have read a lot of short stories, the four that stuck out to me the most were Saboteur, Where have you been, Where are you going?, and Barbi- Q. Each story is has its own reflection like what I learned about myself, what I learned about other people, and what I learned about the world. What I learned about myself in Saboteur was not to let people get under my skin like Mr. Chiu let the cops under his skin when they threw the hot soup at him. You have to be the better person and not try and make a point because in the end you may not even get your point across just because the other people might be better than you.…

I believe that it is hard to speak about ourselves in general, therefore the idea of an autobiography is not even in the equation.
