College Admissions Essay: The Most Important Things In My World

Improved Essays
There are many things in my world that make me happy and many things that I like to do.  I like to spend time with all of my friends in the city, where I live.  We often play games, cards, play music, or just watch movies.  Sometimes we ride bicycles or skateboard.  I like to see live music and go to festivals in the city.  For work, I build windmills and watermills in beautiful places all across America.  I get to travel quite a bit for work and I enjoy that.  I like my job very much.  I also like to have a nice home.  I have a vegetable garden in my yard and plants in my house, and I tend to them every day.  My house is very small, but it is comfortable.  I love to learn.  I am facinated by space and science.  I often study swedish, among other things, in a café, a library or at my home.  I like to learn to identify native plant species and birds.  I like to read books.  But there is little time in the world I enjoy more than time spent deep within sparsly seen and unadulterated nature, far from the beaten path.

The one topic on every senior’s mind is their future. Everyone has dreams of what they could become and how to fulfill that wish. My dream is to become a criminalist and I believe that Florida Gulf Coast University would be the college to help me get there. I’ve been hooked on all the crime shows on TV since I was a small child; I even took a forensics class my junior year of high school. I feel I am properly equipped with my grades and test scores to begin a new life in college and major in FGCU’s forensics program.…

The Big Day As I sat there waiting for my results, surrounded by friends but feeling so alone, I pondered at all the possibilities "maybe I qualified for state or maybe I didn't" I kept thinking. I could hear the blasting of horns and the beating of drums in the distance, strangely though I was surrounded by sound and vibrations I still managed to tune it out. For some reason to me sitting in that one seat became almost my own little bubble filled with self doubt while at the same time a shred of hope. It felt like chaos and anarchy reigned in my head, hope battling doubt, until I saw a judge post results on to a wall; my bubble popped, and slowly I approached the results. Going into my junior year of high school I had only one goal; to become the best Euphonium player and prove all the people who ever doubted me wrong.…

All of my short life I've seen a vivid dream. One where I sit with a ticket in my eager hand, staring out the window of an airplane a million miles in the sky thinking "what next"? With my hard earned Master's degree in psychology and the freedom to start anywhere I choose at hand the possibilities are endless and overwhelming. Even now, as I reminisce on the decisions I've made in my past that have gotten me where I am today. The thought of regretting the hardship I faced throughout high school and the wild ambitious years of my college days never crossed my mind.…

This essay is going to be about two people I have come to know in my lifetime, who have inspired me to be the person that I am today. The first story is about an extremely hard working individual that relied on their morals and strive for success to get through high school on the honor roll or better every time. I've known this person my whole life. Always doing their homework, having a smile on their face and saying “hi” to everyone in the hallways, this person was someone I wanted to be around.…

Throughout life, I have acquired different traits but the traits of which I am most proud of would be my reflective and inquisitive nature. I have always been observant and I continually question the origin and the reasons why various concepts and ideas were obtained and derived. History has proven that when great minds answered the question “Why?”, great advances happened in modern society/history that forever changed how everyone viewed the world . If Isaac Newton and Galileo were not inquisitive we would have never learned about the many theories and laws that exists in the modern era. This trait provides me with an innovative mindset because it reminds me everyday to think critically and to question “What could be?”…

When I was little, I was not like the other girls. I had decided to trade my barbies for beetles. My favorite pastime consisted of marching to the empty field next to my house, armed with a butterfly net and a bug cage, to catch grasshoppers. I would use them as bait when I went fishing with my dad, as food for my praying mantis, or as points in a contest with my friends. This fascination has stuck with me as I have grown up.…
