Unlike “Life is Beautiful” and “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”, “The Pianist” was more of a monologue of Szpilman’s life, showing every inhumane moment. In “Life is Beautiful” and “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” there were often times where the protagonists would get lucky. “The Pianist” had none of these moments as there were people murdered randomly with no sympathy shown. I believe that this helped me understand truly how brutal the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of the Jews was. Another reason why “The Pianist” did the best job at capturing the emotions regarding the holocaust is because “The Pianist” showed the constant struggle for life, something that the other two films
