My Life Changing Summer Essay
Everybody has one; noun something such as a movie, television program, or piece of music, that one enjoys despite the feeling that it is not generally held in high regard. (“Guilty Pleasure”)
mine just happens to be exploring abandoned buildings. I am going to share a life changing summer surrounded around one very unique building. I first discovered this hobby through a person who would grow to become a very special person in my life. Now, my interest in urban exploring did not start with my special place, I had to start on a beginner building and work my way up. Over lunch with my friend one Saturday afternoon, he asked, “have you ever climbed a building before?” to which I replied, “no.” with a slight question like lilt at the end of my word. He then told me that he would take me sometime. I asked “when?” because I wanted to go and didn’t want it to be one of those things mentioned and later forgotten about. “How about next Saturday?” he answered. This date was sooner than I had expected but, I wasn’t doing anything and I figured why not? Lets go for it.
That next Saturday we went to an old grain silo in Fort Worth, Texas. Fort Worth is a relatively big place so I’m going to say this is the building off of the street kindly referred to as Scary Berry.
