In the article “Comparing the Academic Performance of High School Athletes and Non-Athletes in Kansas in 2008-2009”, a study was formed, including over a hundred thousand high school students ranging from 8th grade to 12th grade. The study concluded that students involved in sports had a higher average GPA than students were not involved in sports. Some of the reasons as to why sports associated students would have higher GPA may include the fact that schools approve involvements in sports and have programs dedicated to sports and school. For example, at some high schools it is required that in order to be involved in a sport a student must have a GPA higher than 2.5. Also, there are school sports who hold mandatory study halls for students involved in the sport. As well as the fact that, as said early, sports teach focus, and focus allows students to become more immersed into their form of study. Involvement in sports can be linked in academic success which makes it another reason as to why they improve students
