The education that you receive because of your wealth makes things different. You become a product of your environment. So yes, I talk and dress like the kids I have always been around in school. But does that make me not black? Who are you to authenticate my blackness? Okay yes, I speak “Proper English” and I don’t fit the urban stereotype that you have associate with blackness. However, who are you to tell me that I am not who I am. It was frustrating to grow up and people always questioning your identity.
Growing up the people around me questioned who I was, I in returned questioned myself during my younger age. I thought to m self maybe I was not black. As I became older and in a sense lost my innocence, I realized who I was and that I should be proud of every aspect of my race. I have a creative mind that ranges from the production of my art work presented in my school’s museum to my wit seen through my ability to communicate with others. My creative mind allows me to produce innovative, original ideas. In my Design for a Social Change class, which focuses on design thinking, I led a group of classmates to create a new course fair at my school. This course fair will allow the students in my community to gain a better understanding of the courses they are able to take. My intuition allowed me to come up with this idea, which will occur at my school for many years after I graduate. My creative mind will allow me to excel in the business programs at Babson like the FME program. There is not another college in the US that offers a program like Babson’s FME program. The thought of leading a group of my classmates through a real world business during my freshman year is sensational. There is not a college in the US that rivals Babson entrepreneurship program, which excites me. I am extremely excited by not only the business opportunities at Babson, but also by the international student’s
