Urinalysis Roster: An Ethical Dilemma

Improved Essays
On March 10th I was given permission from my section to stay home from work to take care of my daughter due to her being released from the emergency room the night before. While at home with my daughter, I was using this time to pack my house in preparation for my family’s pending move at the end of the month. While going through papers I decided to have a beer not thinking that I would be called into work for any reason. Approximately 1130 I received a phone call from Master Gunnery Sergeant Hernandez informing me that my name was on the Urinalysis Roster. I informed the Master Gunnery Sergeant Hernandez that I had my daughter with me and didn’t have alternative child care, but that I would but able to make it to the urinalysis before 1400. At this point I realize now that i should have told my …show more content…
What I should have done differently was confronted Gunnery Sergeant Scudder and remind him that I was still standing by, and ask him what his plan was for me or if he still needed me to continue waiting. I understand that by me telling the Gunnery Sergeant that I had a beer must have been off-putting and not of the norm, I still should have been more patient. My thought at that at this point was how my daughter was doing in my Absence. When I returned from the urinalysis the proper action should have been to tell my Master Gunnery Sergeant Hernandez what took place and awaited further guidance. After leaving the office I did not immediately return home being that it was midafternoon and neither I nor my daughter had lunch. So, I decided to get lunch for the two of us and eat at the park. I understand that I was unable to be reached on my cell phone for a couple of hours and accountability is paramount in the military. During the time that I was unavailable, I did not have my cell phone on me and did not think that anyone was trying to reach

On March 02, 2017, without consulting or informing either Sgt. Bieberdorf, me or Captain Levin, Captain O’Donnell scheduled Deputy Lewis for a three-day training course. To my dismay, I only became aware of this training event when Erika was scheduling a hotel room. At no time did Captain O’Donnell consult or even inform me that she has arranged for one of the deputies under my supervision to be out of the office. By March 22, 2017, Captain O’Donnell had still not made any type of notification to Sgt.…

During random points in our shift we were directed to conduct checks to ensure only authorized personnel gained access to these areas. After conducting checks for thirty minutes, my partner and I headed over to Security 33’s post.…

    - He questioned me whether I thought that they were going to mess with me as being the reason I didn't want to give my ID. I never brought that issue up and found this a bizarre thing for him to say. - When Officer Works basically said he only needed the slightest misstep to detain me and to ask for my ID Sergeant Alan Sawyer did not correct him (at least not while I was there) as the courts have established you need a level of reasonableness to detain someone, and one slight misstep does not meet that standard. - And, finally, Sergeant Alan Sawyer said he couldn't wait to read my complaint.…

This exam was so important to me because it meant moving up to a higher position on my job as childcare professional. I had to work the next day, so I did not have time to even think about the test results. I was called to the office to speak with my childcare trainer. I thought she had observed me doing something wrong in the classroom, because that is usually the case when you are called to the training office.…

I could see how crucial it's to finish the task they have given me too, so they can look up on rny corrections and deficiency that I have made on one of my diaries. Before 0100,the diary must be finish and check by the NCO and reviewed, certified by the OIC, so we could cross-train each other and do more productive work besides main post-deployments work. For example, junior marines supposed to finish their annual training's, leading marines, and corporal's course. When a task is given out it is expected to be completed before moving on to the next task so that all aspects of the mission can be completed effectively and without fail. As a soldier it is my obligation to not only complete the task, but to report back to higher on its status, proving to my chain of command my current level of competency. It is a failure for not properly completing the tasks or not promptly notifying my chain of command when I am unable to complete a task in the time allotted. It is my obligation to ensure that I improve myself in all areas working to become more proficient and efficient in my duties. If I do not properly follow the orders of my Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) it could be seen as disrespect, failure to follow orders, and in turn that NCO may lose respect for my ability’s as a…

Due to my lack of personal responsibility I failed to follow my instructions, therefore I will address the necessity of following instructions and why they are important. In the army if you do not follow instructions from your Noncommissioned officer which is a lawful order then you could get an article fifteen. An example of this is if a soldier was told to write a five-hundred word essay from their Noncommissioned officer and only wrote two hundred then they could get that article fifteen. Another reason to follow instructions is that it could be the difference between your life and others. If you were told to take the ammunition to the other side of the firefight where ammo was low, and you didn't do that then that side could get over ran and all of their lives are gone because they don’t have that ammo.…
