I had the privilege of interviewing a first year teacher at my son 's school. Ms. James is a first year pre-kindergarten teacher at White Bluff Elementary School. She was one of the teachers assigned to welcoming the kids to school every morning; that was how I got to meet her. She enjoys teaching the pre-kindergarten because she wants to put a lasting imprints on the educational sojourn of the kids as their first ever teachers apart from their parents or guardians, furthermore, she cannot resist the flexibility of the Pre-K curriculum compared to other grades. Ms. James: The whole process of becoming a certified teacher is challenging coupled with students, parents, administrators and other stake holders in the education sector is a difficult which a seasoned teacher has to rise up to.

The number one trait he looks out for in his teachers when he conducts interviews is the willingness to learn and grow. This is why he pays special attention to how a candidate answers the interview question “What is your weakness and what are you doing to improve on it?” As far as he is concerned, teachers must be a willing learners and those that are willing to learn and grow in the teaching profession, would have weaknesses and they should be willing to improve on them. Maintaining student confidentiality is also top on his list because that is the number one ethic that most teachers failed to abide
