Legacy?
Most people want to leave a legacy wherever they go. Most students seem to want to leave their mark, or leave an indelible imprint in the school they go to. I have no urge to leave a “legacy” at the Mount. I am not even sure if I want to continue my education at the Mount, so I am not sure what legacy I would want to leave. If I were to continue my education at the Mount, I do not know if I would want to “go all out” or above and beyond to try to leave a mark at this school because honestly, I’m just trying to get by and be able to give back to my parents. If leaving a legacy leads to me being able to provide for my parents just as they have done for me, then I will do anything. I have no goal set to leave a mark in

I need to improve my communication skills, for example in group projects, I’m hardly ever the leader because I don’t like to be the one that has to handle ordering people around and telling them what to do. I’m not the kind of person to take charge even when I see something being done incorrectly, I keep to myself. I feel that that can be a disadvantage and I’ve been working on becoming more comfortable with speaking out and more open to saying something is not right, or saying my opinion in general. When I do state my opinion and someone rebuts me, I feel that I need to be assertive and back up my opinions in a better more prepared way, and not keep to myself because I should be able to express what I feel without a problem. Another leadership skill I need to improve or develop is persuading or motivating. A good leader must have the ability to persuade the audience or to motivate and talk to them with enthusiasm to try to get their point across. I am not very motivational, I can be somewhat of a pessimist and always think of the worst possible scenarios and harsh the mellow when I’m around my friends, but I think that can be good. Being prepared for the worst can be good because if one is highly optimistic and then fails, then one would feel bad, as compared to if you were prepared for the worst and get a good

Bravery, Legacy, and Friendship, something all men have, but only heros use. Beowulf is never afraid to join in on a battle, if he thinks that it is the right thing. Beowulf puts the safety of his men, before the safety of himself. Beowulf, also, will always be remembered as an authentic hero because of his deeds. In the poem Beowulf, Beowulf exemplifies the characteristics of a true hero during the Anglo-Saxon period.…

There are some communication skills I still need to improve such as internal listening, active listening, and removing barriers of preconceived notions. These again can’t be achieved by reading and learning. I need to keep in mind that things like barriers in listening and preconceived notions are present in every conversation and work hard to eliminate them. I will also practice my active listening skills in everyday conversation to improve the qualities of interactions I have with people around me. But what I am more concerned about than communication skills is my leadership skills, since this course focused mostly on improving communication skills.…

To get these traits in my group, I must be aware of my personal strong leadership practices as well as my weak ones in order to improve them. I’ve found that some of my strong leadership practices include, “fostering cooperative rather than competitive relationships among people I work with,” “praising people for a job well done,” “following through on promises and commitments I make in this organization,” and I “treat others with dignity and respect.” (Insights) Some of the practices I believe I need to improve on are, “keeping current on events and activities that might affect our organization,” “finding ways to get feedback on how my actions affect other people’s performance,” and “taking initiative in experimenting with the way we can do things in our organization.” (Insights) Self awareness is one of the best traits to have as a leader and realizing from these practices what I need to work on and what I do well will only make me that much stronger as a…

An area of Applied Psychology 1 that has captured my interest is the field of educational psychology. This field of study is interested with children and young adults in educational and early years’ settings (British Psychology Society (BPS), 2016). This has captured my interest as children are especially vulnerable during school years, due to a variety of reasons such as low self esteem. This could be due to learning difficulties such as dyslexia and behaviourial problems. I believe that I would find it rewarding to work with children to help them develop their own skills and abilities in regards to the obstacles shown early in their life.…

It was not until the past century though that the great wisdom studied by the enlightened one, Buddha, was shared with the world after the invasion of Tibet by China. Buddhism reveals ancient wisdom of inner peace (Seaward, 2015). In Buddhism, stress is believed to be the consequence of negative desires such as expectations, conditions, and fears. As defined by Buddhism, “desires are conditions and expectations that are associated with goals” (Seaward, 2015). Desires can be positive or negative; positive desires are things that can’t be physically obtained, such as happiness or a more friendly or harmonious world.…
