My Learning Style Assessments

Decent Essays
In the learning style assessments that I have taken the most important things I have learned about myself and the way I learn, is how I grasp information through a more logical approach along with visuals. I have experienced this in the duration of my first college semester and also throughout High School as well. I have always gravitated toward technological/scientific oriented classes. Computer Maintenance was my favorite course in High School. I experienced hands on IT work fixing computers, and visuals of computer components. The way the course was taught appealed to my learning styles of watching what is taught in action and thinking critically about solving real life computer problems. Visuals still help me in college in my US History

Lesson 6 Learning Assessment For the evaluation of the Agency Culture Assessment, I am doing it on Children’s Hope Foster Family Agency on the program Transitional Housing Program (THP). Doing a qualitative approach is actually simple with the THP clients. I will consider doing a 12-month research since that is the average time that the youth stay in the program. For the key informants, I would choose social workers outside the agency who are knowledgeable of the THP population and people who are knowledgeable on how to conduct a qualitative approach.…

This formative assessment strategy is simple, but the students love it and it is effective. The students have to draw the number correctly on the board, and then they show their finished project to the teacher. The teacher can check to see if the students understand how to form the letter or number and if they do not, the teacher can have them erase and try again. The teacher had them practice writing the numbers on their own on the chalkboard before they showed their finished project. This allowed the students to get extra practice and showing their work to the teacher helped to provide added motivation.…

Through this semester I’ve explored a lot of resources and helpful information that my First Cornerstone class has provided to me. I’ve found very helpful resources such as Awato, it’s an online career information system that matches interests and aptitudes with degree programs and careers, it also provides a customized roadmap to help you achieve your career goals. This website has helped me find my interests, inclinations and values to help me find my career path since to me it seems very difficult to find. Another resource that First Cornerstone has provided to me (that hopefully can help me find my career path) is the Noel Levits survey, this survey helped me point out my weaknesses and my interests, not only that but the opportunity to…

Learning can be shown to have occurred when students learn new material, knowledge or can use a new expertise.1, 2 It is an unceasing lifetime process, best achieved through real life experience. Upon completion of the Learning Style Inventory, I’ve found that I am predominantly an auditory learner. This was fascinating to me because I have always considered myself a visual learner. This new discovery will serve me well going forward in Bethel University’s online program as well as in my career. I feel like I will able to better approach each assignment and better prepare for each work day. I will continue to rely on visual aids as well because I love to read and absorb information through written instructions.…

When I first started taking class in GTCC my plan was to transfer to pre-pharmacy program in Highpoint University after spending one year in GTCC. After I started taking ACA course I learned about Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, basically this agreement guarantee acceptance in all public universities, all community colleges and some private universities (success by design Pg. 50), but this agreement can only be effective if I complete my associate in science program. This knowledge made me change my plan about transferring to 4 year university only after one year, instead I decided to finish my associate in science program in GTCC and apply to Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy in Highpoint university and Wingate University School of Pharmacy as a pharmacy student but if things don’t work out I can still be a transfer student in another university with different major.…

Why Students Aren’t Learning If we are sending our children to school to learn, then why are we sending them? School is supposed to be a place where students are able to learn and grow as individuals, but for some students, this is not the case. There are many issues within our school systems; some of these issues are how students interpret, organize and represent information. Usually, teachers lecture on a subject to teach their class. This is a problem because everyone does not learn the same.…

Mostly everyone would agree that a child’s education is critical to their development as a scholar. On the contrary would most people agree that how our next generation is taught will influence not only their academic success but also their motivation and behavior? Educators of past generations typically conformed to the “one size fits all” model of teaching which resulted in predominantly lecture style teaching. George Fox Professor, Donna Webb (2016), says we have made great advancements of transitioning from teachers being “’the sage on the stage’ to a more appropriate student-centered learning environment.” The more this topic of teaching styles came up in my life, the more interested I became.…

The most common—but not the only—hypothesis about the instructional relevance of learning styles is the meshing hypothesis, according to which instruction is best provided in a format that matches the preferences of the learner (e.g., for a ‘‘visual learner,’’ emphasizing visual presentation of information). (Pashler et al., 2009) Learning is a very unique concept as in one regard some people might refer to learning as a means of retaining knowledge while others might refer to learning as a means of understanding reality (Schmeck, 1988). But by definition learning is a process through which individuals acquire, assimilate new knowledge, and behaviour changes. This includes cognitive and affective components as well as attitude.…
