When this assignment was assigned, I knew I wanted to choose the two assignments I knew that were going to help me the most later in life. After a semester of learning about email etiquette, the job application process, designing PowerPoints, and research methods, I knew I had a lot to choose from. I wanted to make sure I chose, in my eyes, the two best documents I turned in. The two documents I have selected to revise for this portfolio are the email package from unit one and my job application from the document redesign portion in unit three. I chose the email package because I feel as if I have shown great professionalism within the emails I created.…

Final Portfolio Cover Letter I have always enjoyed writing so I feel like classes such as these help me more than others. Before I finish college I hope to take some sort of creative writing class as I feel as I haven’t given that opportunity much in recent years amidst constant essays on topic that I do not care about. As a writer I believe my biggest strength is that when I start writing I can keep writing almost until I have run out of things to write about or am interrupted for some reason. I also feel as though I’m very good at writing about things I am passionate about and if I care about a topic you will be able to clearly tell when reading what I wrote.…

It has been nine years since I have attended college and eleven since I have taken an English course. The first English Composition class I took in 2004, was very dry, and the expectations from what I remember were extremely low. We read excerpts, wrote reflection papers, and that pretty much sums it up. When I reviewed the classes needed for my current degree of interests, I immediately convinced myself English Composition would be the easiest way for me to ease myself back into college. My expectations were low only because of what I experienced before, and I felt this was the place to start in order to help bring my confidence up about returning to college.…

Introduction I arranged my portfolio essays in order of worst to best, or phrased in an another way, least developed or important to the most important. It was very difficult to decide where each piece should be placed. However, I felt that by using this rationale, I could better express what I feel I have learned this semester and how I have grown as a student and spiritual person. The first piece I included is my first reflection paper.…

Throughout high school, I have taken all honors courses (when applicable) and really pushed myself to take challenging courses. When trying to coordinate my schedule, rather than look for the easiest courses, I choose what would be more beneficial for me and my future. My career/college interest is Finance and Psychology; therefore, I am taking AP Statistics and AP Psychology my senior year. In addition to my AP courses, my remaining five classes are all honors.…

Learning has the power to transform all of us. We have the opportunity to shape and mold our minds into learning whatever we desire. It wasn’t until my first semester of college that I learned what the six stages of learning are and how our emotions affect our learning. Emotion is the on and off switch for learning. It’s important for us to understand this process and how we learn biologically.…

When I first began this class I thought that this would be just another introductory class that is required to orient you to the expectations of the particular college. Now, after completing this class, I know that this is not the case. Personal Dimensions of Learning has been a great help, not only to my school work, but also in my daily life. Before taking this class, I thought that learning, and completing daily tasks, were mostly memorizing the order of the way things are supposed to be done and just completing the task. I never liked this strategy, but it always seemed to be the most convenient way to get things done at school, home, and work.…

Introduction After the terrorist attack in New York on September 11, 2001, Rudolph Giuliani wrote, “Much of your ability to get people to do what they have to do is going to depend on what they perceive when they look at you and listen to you. They need to see someone who is stronger than they are, but human too” (Giuliani, 2002). In the teachings of “The Fifth Disciplines” Peter Senge explains that this kind of leadership stems from personal mastery and the understanding that Personal Mastery is not a destination but a life long Journey. It’s strange how in your journey of self- development you tend towards specific people and ideals, holding puzzle pieces in both hands.…
