My Leadership Skills

As I look back on my leadership skills I have found that I will have to utilize the methods and tools I have learned in this course to guide me to be a better leader which, can only keep me grounded and be a more marketable individual. During this course, I have learned that I tend to want to help others improve themselves and reach their goals and may at times loose site of others that are already progressing and achieving on their own. It is imperative that everyone is included and a participating member of the group and no one should feel alienated or like an outsider (Northouse, 2016). Vision is the foundation of leadership and it is important to have a vision which can direct you on a path in reaching your goals. In my journey to perfecting my leadership skills it is important to remember that leadership is not about authority or titles, in contrast, leadership gives direction, empowers, inspires and can lead to a successful business. Focusing on leadership is a priority for me which, I feel is essential in building and maintaining an effective group, motivating others that will bring about positive results in team building and staying focused (Northouse, 2016).
The leaders are key players in the team success therefore, it is important for me to learn and retain as much so I can be successful in achieving the organizations goals and missions. Health care management will be a new career for me. In 2016, I will have obtained a Master of Science degree and I will seek employment in the health care field. Fostering team spirit, collaboration and support will help in this process. During these years, competencies in being emotionally resilience to stress or unplanned events will be controlled through leaders’ qualities such as self-confidence, extroversion, intuition and openness to my experiences which will make me a better leader (Nobles, 2012).
