Despite the fact that my Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) feedback report shows that my observers are generally in agreement with my own understanding of my behaviors, there are a few differences. The ability to identify how our views differ, combined with the helpful responses to the essay questions, has opened my eyes to several behaviors that need attention. The results of my LPI confirmed what I suspected would be my weaker areas of leadership. As an introvert, I have the tendency to keep to myself and not express myself well. While these qualities may have been acceptable for a non rate or a junior petty officer, I understand that I must work on improving my communication skills to be a proficient senior leader. Consequently, the Leadership Behaviors that I want to improve all involve verbal expression. My leadership philosophy focuses on creating an environment in which people can be successful. Setting clear expectations for personal conduct serves as a foundation for this environment.
