Am I the perfect leader? No, but I do believe that I know what it take to be one. There are many different types of leader that you may think are completely different in every way. But, I believe the all leaders must have certain things in common. These leaders’ roles in society depend on their competencies, ambitions, shortcomings, rights, privileges, duties, and obligations.

A competence is the ability or capability to do something. In a leaders case this means his power and will over his followers and society. A leaders competencies are his most important assets. In my opinion a leader should be careful with his ambitions.

I believe a good quality that every leader should have is a good dream. Martin Luther King Jr. for example was a great leader because he had a dream that others could relate to. He wanted blacks to be treated equally, and with his “I have a dream” Speach it helped pass the dream along. You also need to be good at convincing people to agree with your side. If no one wants to vote for your side then your not a good leader.…

The specific qualities of a leader have always been in question in determining if an individual has the characteristics of a great leader. From the early 1840’s with the Great Man Theory to today with Charismatic Theory, leadership styles are constantly being analyzed and formulated to fit in the current context of leadership. Merriam – Webster describes leadership as the power or ability to lead other people in a group, organization, or situation (Leadership, 2015, p.1). An interesting thought about a leadership is that if a sample population is asked what are the characteristics of a great leader there would be a variety of answers because each individual has their own formulated idea about how a great leader should act and conduct tasks. Leadership has a drastic transformation when you analysis different fields and careers of leaders.…
