My Leadership Philosophy

When many think of a leader they think of a person that commands directions for a group. My definition, however, is a little different, as a leader I like to show the way by example rather than authorities order. Along with being a leader I also strive to be respectable by having strong core values and not being afraid to stand up for what I believe in, despite how many followers I have, as long as I am acting with honesty and integrity. As a seventh grade student, you start facing new changes in your life, having more questions, and you start to develop who you want to be for the rest of your life. In the future, I pray that she is more than I am, I want her to take my examples and use them to take her farther than I ever imagined. Whether it be on her volleyball team, in church, or even in just school projects. In fact, the most ideal experience I have had in college so far was leading a devotion in my dorm hall. Leah will be a leader like me because I have taught her to be the best she can be and always tell the truth. I know I am not the only one that was told, “You’ll be in less trouble if you tell me the truth”, although I did not think that was true when I was younger, I believe it whole heartedly now. I show her that it is okay to make mistakes and mess up sometimes, just make sure you learn from them. She knows that she can talk to me about anything or any situation she may be in. Leadership and guidance is apart of the very foundation any individual needs while growing up. throughout my life I have shown qualities of moral excellence, honesty, and courageousness, not only to my sister but to my family, community, and fellow peers throughout my

I anxiously looked out the window at the familiar sites: cows grazing, tractors roaring, and palmetto bushes gently swaying in the summer breeze. Then, the classroom door squeaked. A statuesque woman walked in, Mrs. Able, our new teacher. She smiled and immediately announced: “You can do anything in life, as long as you want to learn and care about others!” Mrs. Able, while not the last teacher to inspire me, was the first.…

The meaning of leadership is being a leader to others whether that be a group, an organization, or to younger/older kids. I have demonstrated leadership in several different ways. One way is through my school. By showing leadership, I do what is expected of me from showing others how something is done when it’s either on the court, in the classroom, in the hallways, or downtown. People are always watching and looking up to the older ones and for me that is a big responsibility to take on and take advantage of.…

Leadership is something I know I posses but as I wrote this essay I found it very difficult to write about myself, I am not a person to brag about personal accomplishments so this was a challenge. I was a leader in several activities, but looking back, I found even though I wasn’t in a leadership position I led by action. In church on mission trips I realized the younger kids look up to me for guidance on how to do things or talk to people. In everyday life, my sister and her friends look up to me for leadership in school work and social events, and in Ducks Unlimited the mentees in the junior mentor program saw that I had shifted, over the years, from mentee to mentor and that they could also continue their journey in Ducks Unlimited in this…

Leadership is something I found over this class period to be something more than just someone telling you what to do. It is something that should help everyone to be a part of and enjoy being apart a group. Leadership is having the capability to have everyone work together as a whole, and being able to successfully finish a task. Kevin Kruse from Forbes magazine has said “Leadership has nothing to do with seniority or one’s position in the hierarchy of a company” which I completely agree with. Leadership is about whether you have the intuition and the skill to be a good leader.…
