Leadership is something I know I posses but as I wrote this essay I found it very difficult to write about myself, I am not a person to brag about personal accomplishments so this was a challenge. I was a leader in several activities, but looking back, I found even though I wasn’t in a leadership position I led by action. In church on mission trips I realized the younger kids look up to me for guidance on how to do things or talk to people. Leadership is defined as being a leader of an organization or a group of individuals. To me a leader is someone who will give their all to accommodate someone in obligation of assistance. A leader doesn’t give up on hard task and pushes to be an example for their peers. I have demonstrated my leadership in and out of school by being a responsible, honest and hardworking individual, who expresses empathy to help those who didn’t think they could achieve a goal on their own. While in high school I have been in multiple extracurricular activities such as Drill Team, FBLA, FCCLA, Student Council, Class Treasurer, NHS and Yearbook.…

Growing up, leadership has always played a huge role in my life. It has helped me grow as a person and allowed me to learn new skills. In middle school, I enjoyed working with my peers to organize events and help others. For example, as a member of my school’s choir, I took the opportunity to help organize concerts, design brochures and make posters to inform the school community about upcoming concerts and events. In addition, I took part in the fundraiser to help raise money for our music department at Carson.…

My leadership experiences are one of the most important aspects of my life because being able to contribute to a meaningful cause, as I did with Operation Smile and Wounded Warrior Project, is extraordinarily empowering and essential for character development. Additionally, my leadership experiences were ways of giving back to the community that nurtured me. Participating in Model UN and being a student leader at my church helped me to develop a sense of pride in my own voice, which is something that I hope to impart to others in my community. Cultivating tomorrow’s leaders begins with developing confidence in oneself, which I would always strive towards as a member of the National Honor…

    * I wrote this essay on the topic of leadership because this is one area I am focused on in my personal and professional growth. Management duties are changing as I move forward in my career, and leadership skills will be an integral part of my development. I also thought this was a fun topic, one I have thought about a lot in the past but never necessarily communicated and I am happy to turn my scattered thoughts over the years into a somewhat composed opinion on the wisdom of one of my fictional mentors. It seems every day I get an email at work or see an ad on the internet on how to be an effective leader. I’m sure all these websites and programs have great advice but for me what seems to be most effective for me is watching…

Introduction Ones’ leadership platform is a foundation of components that make up the roadmap “to success” based on what is important to them. It is important to have an understanding of the different leadership styles and leadership theories, in order to develop the leadership platform. It is also important to note that there “are almost as many different definitions of leadership as there are people who have tried to define it” (Northouse, 2013, p. 2). As we progress in knowledge, technology, and growth as a society, so do the leadership styles and theories. As stated by Northhouse (2013), “Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal” (p.5)…
