actions therefore our leadership philosophy has to conform to that. I believe being a
good leader means following those rules and expanding on them. My leadership
philosophy is based on three important aspects of leadership; getting to know
subordinate Soldiers, teaching subordinates what right looks like, and leading by
example.
First, as a leader it is most important to take the time to really get to know your
Soldiers and their family. The best way to accomplish this is to have face to face

especially young Soldiers, must be able to look up to their leaders and presume that
they honestly care about their well being.
Next, leaders must spend quality time mentoring and molding their Soldiers.
Unlike the civilian world, where job security is necessary, it should be the goal of every
leader to train their Soldiers every aspect of their job in order for everyone to advance.
Unfortunately it is not unusual to have leaders that have become stagnant in their
position and have no desire to learn, improve or move up. Fresh Soldiers have a lot to
bring to the table but there are leaders who just don’t like change and are not willing to
