Furthermore, my course of study, plus my passion in the course as well as in trying to be that change I want to see in my community play imperative roles.
I am from Afghanistan, a country torn apart by war, corruption, political unrest; and, in grave need of a leadership that can understand the society, fathom and prioritize its problems, and work towards building a stable future. I truly believe that a comprehensive course like Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) would enable me to become a leader who can actually offer solutions. The reason why this course is so appealing to me is that nowadays politics

Ever since I graduated from high school in December 2009, or my first official employment as an ESL instructor back in 2008, I have been pondering about what course I would like to get a degree in and my expectations form college and college life. I took a liking in sociology, then international relations for a while, and business administration after that, but when I came to know about PPE, it changed everything. I believe I am fully qualified to become an Army Warrant Officer for many reasons. The first is that I feel I have reached a rank that marks the culmination of my operational career. At this stage in the Army as a Staff Sergeant, I continually fulfill duty positions that are above and beyond my pay grade in both the garrison and deployed environments. This is best exemplified in my recent deployment with 1st Special Forces Group in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. As a Staff Sergeant, I served as the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Iraq (CJSOTF-I) Counterintelligence (CI) Coordinating Authority, which is doctrinally a Chief Warrant Officer Three billet.…

The academic system of current society attempts to prepare students for working in the real world. The majority of students are encouraged to pursue studies in areas such as business and technology because it will ensure a high paying job and promote economic growth. Lately, students have begun to question whether studying the humanities are worth the tuition costs, and if a technical or science based major is a better option. Martha Nussbaum, in her essay “ Education for Profit, Education for Democracy”, brings attention to how “the current focus on education as a form of career training fails to teach students the skills necessary to participate in the political process” (61). Liberal arts schools aim to strengthen a student’s range of knowledge through the studies of arts and humanities.…

Personal Philosophy of the Student Affairs Field Reflecting on my personal college experience and those of my peers, I believe that the field of Student Affairs provides a unique and even essential opportunity to help shape the experience that student’s receive within the university setting. I strongly believe that students gain more from their college experience learning and growing outside of the classroom rather than inside. Self-discovery and personal exploration through extra-curricular activities and interpersonal interactions guide students through their academic careers and develop who they wish to become as an adult facing the “real world.” Student Affairs professionals help to ensure that each student begins their track to self-discovery…

I have a long educational history experience with US government classes. It all started in high school where it was a requirement to graduate, I took one US government class in high school, and now I have to take it again. As much as I enjoy US government classes or related studies areas, this time it is a requirement for me to take and pass this US government class again; however, my two mean reasons for taking the class this semester is not only because it is a required course for me, but, it is because I enjoy learning about politics and government. With that being said, regardless it was required or not I was planning on taking it anyway. I am a political science major; as a result, I have to take at least three courses of POS such as…

My leadership philosophy is one that is rooted in the strong belief that it must be a continuous quest to motivate all students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners, while possessing outstanding character. This includes assisting students with discovering their talents and interests, therefore developing a love of learning, while developing into ethical, productive citizens. Accomplishing this requires a leader who is knowledgeable in pedagogy and curriculum, including the use of data and current assessments to enhance instruction, and who possesses outstanding communication skills, the ability to manage an operation’s resources effectively, promotes collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate and committed to helping students learn. I believe that my interpersonal skills will be my biggest strength as an educational leader. Through frequent, honest communication, and my enthusiasm for the subject, I will demonstrate understanding and compassion for those around me, therefore building trusting relationships.…

And why do these people not do more?” I wanted to know how so many people can live in absolute poverty, despite modern technology and the incredible wealth of the first world.…
