My Last Ski Run Of The Day Analysis

Improved Essays
I have always loved to be involved with nature. When I was little, I would never come out of my tree house. It was my home away from home. There has always been a deep connection between us more then anything else I cared about. As much as I loved nature though, I never seemed to give back or take in the real meaning it beholds. Nature holds many secrets and it takes an individual to investigate to find out. If you do not stop once in awhile, you will never see that opportunity that faces you. My last ski run of the day gave me opportunity to see beauty in the world and showed me that I have someone watching over me.
The snow is falling and the clouds cover the sky in grey as if there was a forest fire on the other side of the mountain. The

After my amazing lift up the mountain, I decide to keep the vibe going and enjoy the ride down. I pick a route that will take me all over the mountain to show my appreciation to the beauty it has bestowed on me. I push off onto the slope as I feel my nose starting to turn red from the cold air rushing by. The falling snow streaks in lines behind me similar to light speed in a sci-fi movie. I hear the ice chisel beneath my skies with every turn that slices into the snow. The clouds are thickening with moister as the roll on top of each other fighting to be the highest. The snow becomes dense and my depth perception decreases to the point that I need to stop. I rise up to an erect position stretching my limbs to catch air resistance as I start to slow down to a …show more content…
I sit under the tree and watch the snow dance in the wind of the storm. I see the wind swirl together and make a white figure resembling a person standing and staring back at me. He stands half way up the tree and is unlike any thing I have ever seen. I cannot move. My body shivers with fear but also excitement. A strong gust of wind blows snow in my eyes and I am forced to turn my head. I snap back to the mysterious figure and there is nothing where the silhouette once was. The storm settles and I head back down the mountain. My mind races as I try to comprehend what I just saw. I realize that I have a guardian angel, watching and protecting me throughout my

Wallace Stegner’s “Wilderness Letter” portrays the importance of wilderness. Wilderness has always held a different meaning as a child for me it held another world. Playing outside, going to wildlife reserves, and watching shows like “Zoboomafoo” that taught about different animals and their habitat all played a part in my love for it. Experiencing the outdoors should be something that is dome willingly to detach and refresh. The Internet has slowly taken that away from children because instead of going outdoors time is spent staring at screens.…

It always comes as a surprise to me when people comment on how there’s nothing to see as you drive through Saskatchewan. I can understand how different the scenery must be in contrast to mountainous backdrops or tropical landscapes, however I have always found the prairies to be uniquely beautiful, and I cannot grasp how others do not see that beauty as well. As I drive through southwest Saskatchewan, the world around me is full of magnificence. Despite popular belief, Saskatchewan is not a flat expanse of nothingness, rather it is a panorama of matchless flora and fauna. Whereas there are areas that are admittedly incredibly flat, the terrain varies as it melts into river hills, and there is a mix of farmland and native prairie grasses that serve to house countless wildlife and insects.…

    4) Using the senses Stanislavsky students practiced using their senses to create a sense of reality on stage. For example, if their character just walked indoors and it was snowing outside, they may work on an exercise to remember what being outdoors in the snow feels like so they can have a strong sense of where they're coming from. Close your eyes and imagine you are outdoors in the snow, then ask yourself the following five questions: What do you see?Is the snow pristine?…

The thought of accidentally dropping my poles enters my mind as I observe lost items in the snow below. As we ascend, more of the slope enters my field of vision. At first, the skiers and snowboarders in my view move at a leisurely pace as they reach the bottom; but as altitude increases, so does the skill and speed of the people coming down. The added elevation diminishes the number of trees providing protection from the bitter wind that starts hitting us like pins and needles. I pull my bandanna up and fit my goggles to the shape of my helmet, in an attempt to block out the frigid breeze.…

We were all standing there, frightened because the snow was unbelievably icy and the fog was so thick that you could only see about ten feet in front of you. Not only this, but it was around 9 o’clock, which means that it was dark out, and we couldn’t see where we were heading, we couldn’t even see more than 10 feet in front of…
