My LJI Test Scores

Decent Essays
My LJI test scores improved compared to my first test score at LJI, but I’m not satisfied. I could have done so much better if I worked as hard from the beginning of the program. I have to admit I was not ready for the first test I took for LJI. My test score proved me right. I studied for the test by reading my notes as I did my homework. I studied last minute on the train the morning I was going to take the test and used my memory of what I learned in class. I guess you could say that I winged it. I’m just not used to studying. At school I do great and pass without studying. My strategy didn’t work for LJI. It was the first time that I have ever failed at test. After the first test I worked non stop. I didn’t stop until I saw improvement.

My scores are Sequence 22, Precision 20, Technical Reasoning 19, Confluence 14 My dad seems a bit opposite from me. His technical reasoning and confluence would be quite high for him because he is extremely handy and can create things easy, always find new or simpler ways to complete tasks and a man of little words. His precision and sequence would have pretty high numbers as well. He really doesn't have much of an avoid aspect.…

Being set apart is about the journey along with the end success. I have set myself apart as a student at Texas Tech due to my leadership, ability to make outside commitments while supporting my course load, and my hard work and ability to overcome adversity. For the duration of high school, I was a leader for my younger peers by volunteering over 400 hours with Shallowater’s Middle School One Act Play program. I held the position of High School Assistant Director for two years, and the opportunity to influence young students was extraordinary.…

Going into Soundings, I had unrealistically high expectations for the year, especially considering my busy, after school, schedule. I, now, know that, though living up to my expectations is possible, it is extremely difficult. Mentally and emotionally, this half of the year has been riddled with highs and lows. and so far, I have not accomplished many of my numerous goals. I had realized much earlier in the year that Soundings was not what my friends, and even what my siblings, who were both in the program, made it out to be.…

My life began to spiral downward before fifth grade began. I found myself an endless loop over summer vacation of waking up, experiencing the day as a blur, sleep, then repeat. This drove me to discover a new way to spend my day. On the television I noticed a recurring advertisement for a game called ‘World of Warcraft’. At first I instilled the mindset that I could spend my time pragmatically but eventually I succumbed to boredom.…

Back then I rarely studied anything in my class because I had a pretty robust memory and could just remember what I wrote in my notes or what was said in class and for anything that was challenging to me, that’s the only time where I might have used the interleaved practice strategy where I space out something very challenging that loomed over my head coming up before the exam. I learned about all of the helpful strategies such as practice testing in history class when my teacher gave us a quiz every other day, which while being annoying, was surprisingly helpful to…

Before I began my Freshman Development Seminar course with Professor Furet, I believed that this class would not be of good use to me. The reason for this was because of my beliefs in self-teaching myself to learn the basics with additional help from other sources. However, it did not turn out the way I wanted it to be. Therefore, I had to pay to get taught what I could have done on my own, at least that is what I convinced myself then and there. Throughout my class sessions with Ms. Furet, I learned more than I could have ever imagined.…
