Improved Essays
At first I didn’t really have any knowledge about transgender identities. Getting to read this article and learn more about it was pretty integrin, and made me become more aware. Its not that I am against transgender its just now a well talked about thing is everyday life. With it growing all over I feel as if it was a good thing it was brought up and able to be leaned about so when we are faced with an interaction we are more aware and not so taken back by it. We really had a discussion as a group of things that we wanted to know more about and understand as a whole and through these I learned some valuable things. We talked about how one thinks they would know and how do you judge them, and if they don’t tell you then is the deceitful and

Adversity is a basic part of humanity. Without adversity there would never be progress, however, it can be excruciatingly painful. So how-if it is so painful-could this led to progress and relief? Adversity is conflict, it is struggle, and once struggle occurs, the problem can be noticed. This is shown to be true by Barbara Kingsolver in The Bean Trees, Desiderius Erasmus in In Praise of Folly, and Dave Philipps in “Second Judge Blocks Trump’s Transgender Ban in the Military”.…

Families with a Transgender Child Learn and Change is a written article from 2015 by Boston Globe reporter Crisela Guerra. This article is a short essay informs its audience about a specific issue within the transgender community, which is transgender children and their families. Guerra cultivates a convincing, open-minded, and well-balanced text with the use of ethos, by introducing the reader to a young transgender child named Q Daily, then uses logos by giving the reader the facts on transgender children, and finally uses ethos by quoting a psychotherapist who specializes in gender. The reader or audience of this text could be anyone who simply wants to be more informed on the nuances of raising a transgender child, but it is also more…

I feel really storng about this article because for one, I have a sister that dates the same sex, and considers herself as being male. Comperison to Alesana, I’ve seen the stress, and pain that my sister went through. It made me furious that people would not accept her for being lesbian when others at my school were also doing it. Secretly, “In the closest.” I feel that Alesana is brave for letting the world know who she is, and not being ashamed to be herself.…

As I entered into Mrs. Cindy Rodgers classroom, I felt the fear come back, I do not think I can work with students of this age. 3rd-grade students, I felt lost and out of place. 22 students, around 9 years of age, just don’t seem to be my forte. But on the other note, this class definitely surprised me. With 14 girls and only 8 boys, the class was sat up on a totally different way than I have ever seen a class.…

Our officers developed a greater understanding of the transgender community, increased self-awareness of global transgender issues, and attendees reflected on what they learned through evaluations following the event. Many of our officers stepped out of their comfort zones by making phone calls and sending out emails. Research has helped our officers find data from websites, other sources, and teaching some officers how to present data in a concise manner. We discovered ourselves as allies defending those that are persecuted or…

Even hearing these trans-gender individuals talk about sex and how men treat them was hard to hear. I don’t think people realize how sexualized our lives are everywhere around the world. Yohnka said, “We get hung up on gender stereotypes and sex and things of that nature when really it’s about someone being able to live and be who they are in a way that they don’t have to be noticed or singled out or treated differently.” I believe this is one hundred percent true. It also opened my eyes up to how much more confidence I think everyone could use, it’s truly respectable and admirable that these individuals can wake up everyday and not be afraid to show the world who…

“Transgender People in The Media” When thinking about gender and the media, I am immediately drawn to the work of Laverne Cox. As stated in “Bell Hooks: A Conversation with Laverne Cox,” Laverne is an award-winning actress, producer and advocate for not only transgender women, but women of color and anyone who goes against the status quo. For my main source, I have chosen to use the dialogue from the inaugural talk with Bell Hooks and Laverne Cox at The Bell Hooks Institute, “a new center in Berea (Kentucky) dedicated to critical thinking and contemplating the intersectional issues of race, gender, and class” (Hooks 25). This talk that occurred in 2015, highlights what Laverne hopes to accomplish through playing different roles on camera and…

Rhetorical Analysis of an Argument Imagine a world where your gender defines who you are and who exactly you could become. Stereotypes about gender could be as simple as a person born male would become a construction worker or police officer and a person born female would become a school teacher or hair dresser. People are to fit into their gender stereotypes, and that was that. But, it is not the 1950s anymore.…

The next step would be to offer bi-yearly-free to the public classes that educate the public about transgender disparities and specific transgender health care needs. This would take 3-5 years to get in place. The idea would need to meet regional approval to get started with the goal to spread to all the facilities. There would be doctors participating that would give material on all the information needed regarding transitioning, surgeries, hormones and other options available for them. Transgender people who have already been through the procedures could give testimonies and answer questions people may have regarding life before and after surgery, and the healing process.…

This topic is wide enough to reach a nation and grab their attention, on the seriousness of transgender children. In a society, where you get killed for being yourself, protecting our future children should be a priority. Although in society people should be treated equally, not everyone believes that.…

“I will not let my days slip away, I will stand up on to feet, and I’ll be complete.” ~Blixemi It all started when I was in second or third grade. I always seemed different and off from most girls and had a lot of friends that were female, which was normal in elementary, to have same-gender friends. Though I had so many friends to play with, I always seemed to wander to where the boys hung out. Usually, I would mess around with my younger brother’s friends.…

In America’s eyes people that are transgender, or have problems with their gender identity do not meet the standards of others around them. They are seen as weird, abnormal, or even immoral. Some heterosexuals are shunning their families, friends, and kids because they do not understand the lifestyle that homosexuals live. For example, some hereosexuals do not belive that homosexuals have the right to marry and be who they choose just because “they” think it is wrong. In addition, the idea of gender identity disorder and transgender is misunderstood by a large group of hetersexuals.…
