My Knee Cap Essay

Have you ever gone to walk, and then fallen over only to look down and watch your knee cap slide back into place? Then realizing that you will once again be on crutches for another two weeks, having to sit out of whatever activities you had planned. Have you ever woken up not being able to feel your arm because your shoulder has popped out of joint again? Have you ever not been able to simply lay down because your scoliosis is acting up? This is what it’s like to have hyper mobility syndrome. The first time I remember my knee going out I was seven years old. I had been sitting on my bed reading an encyclopedia my parents had gotten me (I was a rather nerdy child), I had decided to get another one of my books. When I went to stand up my knee cap went completely to the side. I then yelled for my parents and by the time they got to me, I had popped it back in. From that point on it happened increasingly often. When I was eight I had just gotten home from trick-or-treating, I started to take off the calico cat costume my …show more content…

They removed the dressing and to my horror there was twelve staples and an incision about 4 inches long, as well as a multitude of smaller incisions. When they took out the stitches the incision came back open. Now a positive thing about having hyper mobility syndrome (well aside from being very flexible) is that my skin is always very soft. The downside of this is that I scar very easily and badly. So once the incision healed it stood out a lot against my very pale skin. At this point I started trying my best to keep in hidden at all

A football helmet does a great job of protecting the brain from major injuries like blood clots, skull fractures, and scalp lacerations, but many times they do not protect against concussive injuries. The brain freely moves or “floats” in cerebrospinal fluid so a blow to the head can cause the brain to move within the skull and smack against it. A new design created by Dr. Julian Bailes at the Brain Injury Research Institute aims to prevent this scenario. Bailes explained that the motion of the brain after impact leads to the tearing of fibers which causes concussions. Bailes designed a neck collar with two small rubber beads that could reduce the severity of a concussion by increasing the blood pressure inside the brain.…

When I was around 4 my skin was probably pretty delicate because of my age, so One day, I was playing outside running around and I slipped on some sand on the ground sliding my knee onto pavement scraping almost the entire skin off the knee. I remember the next part very well because I started bleeding profusely; you could've literally saw the flesh. Luckily I didn't need stitches all it took was a large bandage wrap around my left knee. When the skin finally healed, it left a scar; to this day though, the scar is now hardly noticeable and very small in size. I once burned myself with the car cigarette lighter when I was young.…
