My Journey To Volunteer As A Teacher's Assistant In The Catholic Church

Decent Essays
After graduating from church school and receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, I decided to volunteer as a teacher’s assistant at my church school to help the older generation teach the youth about the Catholic faith. This volunteer experience helps me realized that my purpose in the Catholic Church was to help the people in my community, to give them positive influence allowing me to gain personal growth and reach my potential of a selfless person learning to take the role as a leader.
That realization that I could bring great knowledge to the people was the beginning of my awakening. This journey started my junior year when I became a volunteer at my church as a teacher’s assistant and I was assigned to help assist a teacher in a class

Good morning, today I was asked to talk about the talk by Bonnie L. Oscarson of this last conference, and explain my feelings towards it. I read the talk and felt that we as young men & young women should give more service to the church. In the talk by Bonnie L. Oscarson, It stated, “Each person has something important to contribute and has unique talents and abilities that help the important work along.” The abilities that we as young women have help the service to spread like a weed. The big change that has helped spread this weed is the prophet just pronounced that 14 and older are now able to start ministering.…

In today’s society, people are swept up in the wrath of being too prideful, or become greedy. These deadly sins deaden our religious life, causing us to distance ourselves from God’s path. Everyone must dig deep into their spiritual lives, and lend a helping hand to those who need it the most. Whether it’s simply having a conversation with a homeless person, donating money, or volunteering at a daycare for the destitute children, these charitable acts can make a huge difference in someone’s life. My service learning experience was an eye opener for me, and it made me realize how privileged and blessed I truly am.…

Introduction My current ministry context is being the Lead Pastor of Harlingen First Assembly. First Assembly is a small, traditional Assemblies of God church located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas. Being their pastor for the past five years has given me the opportunity to observe their personality traits, their interactions with other people, and their willingness to serve the local church. Like many small churches, Harlingen First Assembly has a core nucleus of people who fill various roles.…

I tend to think of this point as the most important point. Standing and serving those in need doesn't have to just be the poor, it could be a friend who was being bullied, or someone who simply needed help with homework. As Catholics, we stand by people who need assistance rather than running away and ignoring them. This summer, I worked at the Center for Food Action, which is a food bank in north Jersey. Helping out and delivering the canned good and donations to the needy was such an amazing experience.…

“And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20:22). As my Confirmation date comes closer, I am not only preparing myself to take in the Holy Spirit, but I am also getting ready to take on the responsibilities of being a full grown Catholic. Although I am nervous, I am excited to find out what God’s plan is for me in the future. My sponsor Catie Hartley has helped me strengthen my bonds with God and the Church throughout the past years. She has set positive examples in her life and our relationship continues to grow every…

Ephesians 4:11-12 states, “And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;”. Pastors, evangelists and teachers are called to equip others, therefore we should focus on the most valuable and faithful individuals; those that show promise of long-term, meaningful commitment to the ministry of the Lord (Wilkinson, 369). Wilkinson notes that Christ had to steward His time and energies to maximize the growth of the Kingdom (Wilkinson, 369). If some of our students show a deeper commitment, then we should test their resolve. If they seem…

I continued to look for a place to serve more in and help more people but I could not find anything that really interested me. When he asked me to help him along with a few others to grow the student ministry I was ecstatic. He had told us that we were the seven like there were the twelve. I think this is my greatest accomplishment as a leader because even though I was a young student he saw a leader unlike many adults that normally think kids should be put to smaller tasks.…

Through high school, Lincoln Charter has been founded on the principles of honesty, respect, empathy, responsibility, service, and preparedness. While I have applied all of these principles in my life, two of those principles have played an important role in an activity outside of my academic life. Ever since the summer before my junior year I have become a monthly volunteer at Mecklenburg Community Church, in their youth ministry and I have strongly applied the principles of service and empathy. In volunteering monthly in their youth ministry it has shaped me as a person who is ready to serve others no matter what might be going on in my life outside of church. Life offers a multitude of life changing experiences, serving at Mecklenburg Community…

On the last week of July, I completed my sophomore service as a volunteer at a Vacation Bible School at a local church. I had gone to the Bible School ever since I was seven but I aged out and decided to become a volunteer. At the Vacation Bible School, the service I preformed was to help the kids and take them to their activities as well as introduce them to Christ. Before the Bible School started, I was nervous and excited to talk to 11 and 12 years old about Christ.…

I have learned more about God in the past month than I have learned my whole life. It is no mistake that I felt a feeling of warmth when I first entered the campus. There was something different about it, I now realize that it is the presence of the Lord. Just as God called me to Crown, He also has called me to teaching. I feel that it is my responsibility to educate the next generation and to show them the beauty of the Lord.…

I inspire to be many things, mainly having a philosophy of serving others in the field of health care, I believe we should form a symbiotic relationship as professional health provider, making it our obligation to not only understand the symptom but the social effects and developing possible cure; supporting and strengthening our existing institution while providing a better quality of life. I acquire these values nearly three decades ago, where I had the opportunity to volunteer in my community at the local church on Staten Island. As you know the church can serve a community in many special and unique ways, from tutoring the youth, to transitioning young adults into first time parenthood, as well as, assisting the community with entitlement programs. One of the major anxieties and financial struggles in my community were families managing a loved one with multiple-infirmities. This is when I began to see the church as much more than a place…

Perhaps the reason behind the shift from positive to negative interactions that I experienced by both the Catholic community and my family proceeding my choice to follow a non-religious pathway, is because I posed a threat to their existing belief and social structure. When I attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School or unwillingly participated in church events, the normal behaviour was to blindly follow and absorb the religious knowledge that authority figures were providing. I however deviated from these norms and when given opportunities to share ideas during class, I would raise questions on the inconsistency, or contradictions present within the Catholic religion. This non-conforming response was found threatening to my parents and…

At the beginning of this year, I decided to dedicate my life to Christ. After coming back home from a winter retreat, I concluded that I need to talk to pastor to get baptized, and I did on April 23, 2017. Shortly thereafter, I went on a mission trip to Washington, D.C., where I really got to see God’s works at hand. My mission group and I work woke up one morning to a beautiful sunrise, and magnificent weather. Despite the fact we had to get up at five in the morning, I was eager to see what the day entailed.…
