I may not be your traditional medical student. I’ve had many failures while I attempted to figure out exactly what I was meant to do with my life. Psychology, interior design, media broadcasting. They have all been things I thought I wanted to do, but even while pursuing them something seemed off. I didn’t feel as if I was making the impact on people that I was meant to. Looking back I can see that the path I am meant to pursue is the one I have dreamed of since 3rd grade – the one that leads to becoming a doctor. I want to leave you with this thought. Wisdom is what you get from experience and experience is what you get from failure. I got a little sidetracked and took a path most medical students don’t – one that winds through different majors, uncertainties, and lots of failure. But for me… that made all the difference. I have learned leadership skills, been able to render my services to many organizations, experienced first hand the struggles people go through, and without a doubt discovered that medicine is my number one passion. This IS my future! I WILL wear that white coat! And because of the things I have learned – I’m GOING TO make a phenomenal
