I have been working in the early childhood field for almost 10 years. I have worked my way up from teacher’s assistant to Director. I’ve loved working with children in the classroom. In fact I thought there was nothing better than being in my small Christian preschool, which was until I had to move for my husband’s work. During the year we were away, I worked a few different preschool jobs that helped enhance my skills as an educator but it wasn’t until we returned that I truly found God’s calling for my career. I was so excited for the chance to teach and make the curriculum my own. I worked hard to make this faith-based program grow and soon we found a need to make it full day and expand our classroom size. God gave me the opportunity to design my own classroom and program. I started working in the therapeutic toddler room, teaching social and emotional skills to my students and parenting skills to my parents. I loved getting to know the whole family and watching them grow together. A time when I witnessed a family go through the most growth was around Christmas, and they went through one of the worst things imaginable. The young mom left her child with the boyfriend while at school. During that time she was gone, the little girl was injured by the boyfriend. DHS soon was involved and the boyfriend was arrested. Mom went through many stages and I was right by her side. Mom felt as though it was her fault. I was able to support her through the whole process. This mom showed such strength and courage to overcome the barriers put in front of her. We were able to get her moved up the HUD list and help her with resources to furnish a new
