I have been working in the early childhood field for almost 10 years. I have worked my way up from teacher’s assistant to Director. I’ve loved working with children in the classroom. In fact I thought there was nothing better than being in my small Christian preschool, which was until I had to move for my husband’s work. During the year we were away, I worked a few different preschool jobs that helped enhance my skills as an educator but it wasn’t until we returned that I truly found God’s calling for my career. This essay is one step of my journey to finding my passion and my commitment to continue learning. This essay is one step of my journey to finding my passion and my commitment to continue learning. I started my career at a small half-day preschool in my church as an assistant, while I worked on my associates’ degree. I soon found my love for teaching small children. They were empty vessels waiting to be filled with love and knowledge. After my first year at Faith Lutheran Preschool, the director asked me to become lead teacher. I was so excited for the chance to teach and make the curriculum my own. I worked hard to make this faith-based program grow and soon we found a need to make it full day and expand our classroom size. God gave me the opportunity to design my own classroom and program. After a year as lead teacher, I became the director of Faith Lutheran Preschool! I loved my job and looked forward to going every day. Faith Lutheran gave me the support and hands on learning I needed to succeed in early childhood. After 6 years working at Faith Lutheran, I had to …show more content…
I prayed during the transition that God would give me guidance on what to do next and help me find work that would support my passion. After two months of praying and searching, I was offered a job at Family Tree Relief Nursery working with families who are at risk for child abuse and neglect. I started working in the therapeutic toddler room, teaching social and emotional skills to my students and parenting skills to my parents. I loved getting to know the whole family and watching them grow together. A time when I witnessed a family go through the most growth was around Christmas, and they went through one of the worst things imaginable. The young mom left her child with the boyfriend while at school. During that time she was gone, the little girl was injured by the boyfriend. DHS soon was involved and the boyfriend was arrested. Mom went through many stages and I was right by her side. Mom felt as though it was her fault. I was able to support her through the whole process. This mom showed such strength and courage to overcome the barriers put in front of her. We were able to get her moved up the HUD list and help her with resources to furnish a new

The reasoning behind me getting into education is due to the inspiration from my mom, my high school teacher/coach and the children I babysit. For about the past 20 years, my mom has worked at Bush Early Education Center in Wilmington, Delaware. Bush is a preschool for children who have special needs; although, they do accept children without special needs as well. Every since I was a young child, my mom would always bring me into work. I essentially grew up at her school; when I wasn’t at school, I was at her school.…

I pray that I am that kind of teacher and in the next ten, twenty and even thirty years I will still be educating the children of our small community. I hope to positively contribute to our community by the example I lead in my walk with Christ and how I live my life. Besides teaching at the high school, I will serve my community by serving in my church, in school booster clubs, and by praying for our community every day. I define success as achieving the goals you have set and being proud of the results. I will know I have achieved success in the future when, like so many of my friends, I will have students thanking me for all I did to help them be…

If someone asked me before having children if teaching is something I would consider pursuing the answer would be no. Through the years my experience with children has been limited to nieces and nephews. It was not until becoming a mother and watching my child grow and learn that I decided to become a teacher. A few months before my daughter started elementary school we found ourselves observing a kindergarten class. Watching the teacher interact with the kids and being in a learning environment felt right.…
