I remember having this blue colored English book which was called “Step by Step” where I learned easy every day conversations. I truly enjoyed learning English and pretty soon after 1 and a half year I could express myself half decent in English. The influence of American life style from my father’s work was bigger than I thought. My father has worked at US Embassy in Mongolia proudly for 12 years. My character, personality and even dreams have been like my father. Ever since he died in 2009, I lived every day of my life for him to continue his life. It was a cold February morning when I got up to get ready to go to the airport. As I got ready putting the last a few things in my luggage was killing me on the inside. I took a last look around my house and kissed my mother and niece goodbye, right then I couldn’t hide my tears. But I knew I was going to see them again because life is amazing and family is forever.
Ever since I moved here, I started to use Skype almost every day to speak to my family. Every time I see their faces I’m so thankful for technology that we have today. Home is far but near in my heart. People say be careful what you wish for. But I don’t regret for making that decision to moving here. I believe it wasn’t just coincidence that I was introduced to American culture as growing up. I believe that it was my destiny to move here one day.
Everyone has a dream and goals in their lives. We all have trials in our lives that make us grow and become someone stronger. Moving to the States has been my dream and my dream came true. I just didn’t know what I had to give up for my dream when I was a young girl. Dreams make other dreams. I carry my family in my heart every day.
