Personal Narrative: I Close A Chapter In My Life

As I close a chapter in my life I can look back and see how fortunate my life has been. I live in a country where I can receive a free education that will allow me to live a life of success; I have had a healthy life, and a supportive family. While I will be completing my associate’s degree this week I still have a road ahead of me. I have always dreamed of becoming a teacher and I will soon be one degree away from accomplishing one of the biggest goals I have ever had. Often times I put my high school and college years thus far together. I have spent three semesters at Meramec but high school to me felt almost harder than college. Taking up to eight college credit classes a year in high school made my course load more difficult than the …show more content…
With only having to complete three semesters and feel like as a person I have not changed significantly since graduating high school, but I have a few minor changes that have taken place. I do feel like I am becoming more independent and not relying on my parents for everything. I am in charge of figuring out financial aid, researching classes I need to take, setting up advising appointments, and being the most devoted student I can be. Being in college has helped me gain better knowledge of what it is like to be an adult. I think while completing my associates I have found that as a person I cannot wait to have a classroom of my own. After observing the school setting I have become more confident in my decision of becoming a teacher and feel like I have made the best decision for me and the future students of today’s world. Louis Community College I am even more confident that I have made the best decision of becoming a teacher. I am one step closer to becoming a teacher and I cannot wait until I walk into a classroom and can call it mine. As I continue my journey of becoming a teacher I will continue to use the four skills of communication, valuing, high order thinking, and managing information to better myself and prepare myself to be the best teacher I can be.
