Quinn Danielson: Hey Jenna, I glad you were willing to be interviewed. First, tell me a bit about the origin of your song “My Jeans”. How involved were you in the production and writing of the song? *Wait, are you conducting interviews with these artists??? If so, tell us that in intro!
Jenna Rose: I had no involvement of the writing or the production of the song. It was written for me after Baby Triggy (1) saw me perform at a showcase for industry professionals in NYC. I received a call from Triggy’s dad who found out how to get in touch with me; we were told that Triggy wrote a song for me that he was certain would be a hit. I had not met either of them before.

It was uploaded to YouTube a year before Rebecca Blacks’ “Friday” staying at around 5000 views. One day I looked and it was at a million; it kept climbing. News Agencies were calling me. It was a star-overnight sort of thing. It was exciting yet scary at the same time. People told me kill myself, cut myself, that I was ugly, screeching when I sang, etc.
QD: Have you ever met Rebecca Black?
JR: I can actually say that yes, I met Rebecca Black while we were both performing at Digitour . It was something I wanted to do since we were both viral 4 years ago. It happened this past summer, and we basically took a photo together and laughed. It was a long time coming.
QD: Do you believe that your fame can, to some degree, be attributed to the fame of Rebecca Black? If so, how does that make you feel?
JR: Yes it’s true. I actually still like My Jeans and feel it wasn't a mistake but I don't want it to define me. As for voice styles, Rebecca and I are totally different, and most people have moved on from comparing her to me. I think it’s a very competitive field and you need a hard shell to get through it. There are so many excellent singers, so you need to be unique, for me it’s being versatile. The fact that I have a photographic memory helps me memorize songs …show more content…
What is the coolest opportunity that resulted from that instant stardom?
JR: The coolest opportunity was performing on Channel 11 News WPIX; it was amazing.
QD: That sounds like it was a great experience! What is your ultimate ambition as an artist? Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
JR: My ultimate ambition is to be taken seriously as an artist. In 20 years, I hope I can look back and say I lived my dream and worked hard against adversity to get there.
QD: When did you know that the music industry was your calling?
JR: I knew when I switched from theater to pop. I loved the change because I could control my destiny, my show and do something I love at my own pace. I admired so many pop singers, and I envisioned myself as them.
QD: Do you think “My Jeans” has made pursuing this calling more or less difficult? Why?
JR: That’s a double edged question, because it’s actually both, My Jeans gave me the platform to be seen, to get great opportunities I wouldn’t have had. It gave me recognition; people know who I am. On the other side, people still relate me to “My Jeans” and don't realize I’m 16 now and much improved
