I’ve been dancing almost nine years, four years when I was younger living in Florida and almost five years here. I’m at the dance studio anywhere from 10 to 14 hours a week, both taking and teaching classes. Even on days when I’m not at the studio I’m stretching or working out because I know I can’t improve unless I work for it. Dance is an art form to me, a way to express myself and express the ideas of others. When I learn new steps or new styles, I’m getting a piece of someone else’s culture and learning how they thought, who they were, and I’m expanding my knowledge of dance culture. Through dance I have learned how to be a better role model for the dancers I teach, how to take care of myself, and how to manage my time between dance and schoolwork. The friends I’ve made while in dance mean the world to me, and I trust them all
