The Day I Passed Away Analysis

Two weeks before I had my interview with the Honors College directors my house burned down. I remember the horrible day in which I walked into my home to find it full of smoke. My family and I had spent the whole afternoon together, we went to dinner and talked for a while. Once my dad parked the car in front of the house I remember feeling uneasy, something was not right. I got off the car as fast as possible and headed for the door to find a cloud of smoke hitting me across the face. My dog, Lucky, was still inside, without thinking about it twice, I ran inside the house screaming his name. I did not make it too far though, the smoked surrounded me and did not allow me to breath. My father came in after me and guided me back towards the front door. He asked to call 911 and to keep my mother and baby brother safe and away from the house, while he went inside and tried to look for our dog. I lost my books, my computer, my clothing, my dog and most importantly, I lost the place I called home. The following days after the accident were very difficult, I did not want to eat or do anything, and all I wanted to do was cry over and over again. Because we could not afford anything else at the moment, my family and I had to stay at a small apartment.
